I am in the process of building my collection of inks and currently have Waterman Violet & Havana, plus Mont Blanc Racing Green and Parker Blue, Blue-Black and Black.
I am going to order a bottle of Diamine Claret, but am also after a Turquoise and would welcome any suggestions from the Forum as to which brand/colour.
WHOOPS....Sorry, posted this in the wrong section.....how do I move it out of "Ink Reviews"?????????????

I like Watermans South Seas Blue and Noodlers Navajo Turquoise as both do not have a green tone to them, but are more a pure blue turquoise..
Not only that but they mix well with virtually no color shift at all...

Watermans South Seas Blue is great bright Turquoise. It's a bit too light for my taste, so I add some black and Florida Blue in it...

My favorite turquoise is MontyB. It has a shimmering translucent quality that makes it seem alive on paper.

See my review of Visconti turquoise
http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=50920. I also have MB turquoise. Both are excellent inks and almost the same. The Visconti in my opinion is a tad more vibrant, while the MB has more shade variation. If you go for the Visconti 'mushroom' bottle, you get a great bottle also. MB's bottle is also very nice.

Yeah folks, but what you don't seem to realize is that every time I get another color ink, I must get a pen to match (or vice versa). What would be some good pen choices to match these cool Turquoise shades? The Noodlers' Navajo looks nice, indeed.

You can buy a blue Pelikan souveran series. There are some other lovely blue pens too out there. I really do not bother to match the ink to the pen.

I'm not a fan of metal sections, but in a pen that pretty, I might put up with it.

I also adore both of these...the Waterman is more electric and vibrant, and the Noodler's has a rich depth to it. I like both of them for their blue clarity, though, and they both write very well.

I recommend Waterman South Seas Blue (a great behaving, safe, and inexpensive ink) and Lamy Turquoise (gets some great shading and the bottle has a very useful design.

I just wrote to someone describing Waterman south seas as electric and vibrant!
I like more muted colors and found South seas to be too intense. I ended up mixing it with Florida blue for a nice blue. I thought other turquoises would be about the same, so I excluded turquoise for the longest time. Then on a whim I bought Montblanc turquoise, a calmer but still beautiful color and loved it. It's my favorite ink currently.

I really like J. Herbin's Bleu Pervenche. It's a great color and the ink has great flow characteristics. The only downside is the J. Herbin bottle - probably the worst bottle design I can think of out of all of the major ink brands. I haven't tried it yet, but the Noodler's Navajo Turquoise is very close to Bleu Pervenche.

Hi jeen,
The old Peacock blue is just a little darker than the Montblanc, but the color quality is very similar between the two. The later Sheaffer turqoise is a little bluer than the Peacock is.

Of the inks I have that might be considered a Turquoise:
Noodler's Navajo Turquoise
MB Turquoise
Waterman South Seas Blue
? PR Daphne Blue? (maybe more of a light blue)
I think I like the Navajo Turquiose best because it's darkest. I find that with thinner nibs, the turquoise inks just look too light.
I guess I'm just not a turquoise fan.
What color paper do you like to use with turquoise? White, ecru, or something else?

Yet another vote for South Sea Blue

The fact that it tends a bit more toward blue than green improve the contrast, that's how I feel it anyway. I do not get tired of reading pages and pages written with it.

I only have N's Navajo T, I'm not a "turquoise boy" (it's a Sonic Youth song, check it out Turquoise lovers!), and I will comment that it is one of those "holy wow!" stand-out inks. Very vibrant, but doesn't hurt your eyes. I would put Skrip Red, DCSS, Green Marine, and Sherwood Green in the "holy wow!" category. (Haven't seen Baystate yet, but it probably belongs in that category too!)
But the Pelikan (in that really helpful scan, above) looks real nice from where I'm standing!!

Couple of not so common nice turquoise:
1) Rotring Turquoise. Excellent
2) Bexley Turquoise. This is essentially a PR ink - anyone knows which one?

Noodler's Navajo (sic.) Turquoise is the best ink I own. It is a clean, crisp, deep saturated colour, with only the slightest hint of green. I'm also convinced they added some oil or lubricant to it because my fine-nibbed Parker Sonnet just glides over the page when I use it, which doesn't happen with other inks I've used in the same pen.

It's my main user, but I find it too dark & dilute it 50:50 with water. Unfortunately then it's very flat & boring. It fades quite fast too. I tried diluting it even more, but then it just wouldn't work in my pens - all scratchy & dry.

Thanks for all the help, everyone!
With all the excellent suggestions, it was difficult to make a choice, but I plumped for the South Sea Blue (at least as a starting point!!).
Cheers, guys
