The real surprise here is Omas Violet, which when viewed in incandescent light, is about the same color as the Waterman purple, but paler.

When I'm not hampered by night time, I'm going to see if I can color correct this to be more accurate for the blues and purples (and then I'll put a link up to the image at other sizes).

For tonight, this is what you get:

List of inks:

Noodler's American Eel Black
Caran D'Ache Grand Canyon
Noodler's FPN Galileo Manuscript Brown
Private Reserve Tangerine Dream
Noodler's Red Black
J. Herbin Rouge Fuchsia
Montblanc Bordeaux
Noodler's Highland Heather
Noodler's FPN Dumas Tulip Noire
Noodler's Kuprin
Private Reserve Plum
Waterman Purple
Omas Violet
Private Reserve Tanzanite
Baystate Blue
Noodler's Luxury Blue
Noodler's Ottoman Azure
Noodler's Legal Lapis
Noodler's Navy
Noodler's Squeteague
Waterman South Seas Blue
Private Reserve Blue Suede
J. Herbin Vert Reseda
Noodler's Hunter Green
Private Reserve Sherwood Green

Thanks!. Looks like the famous baystate blue is very similar to the tanzanite, both intense blues with a violet touch. Nice!.

Thanks, Deirdre! I really love these comparisons of lots of different inks so that I can stare and compare! Wonderfully wonderful! And helpful, too.

Yep.... the Baystate Blue also caught my eye. I really like that color (at least as it appears in your scan). How accurate is your scan? You mentioned that you wanted to refine the blues and purples a bit more. I wonder if that will change my impression of Baystate.
Deirdre
The Baystate blue is perhaps the most accurate of them all.

I'd describe the color as electric reflex blue.

sorry for hijacking your thread but, am I right in remembering that you joined FPN late in 2007, and you already have over 1000 posts ???!!!

I lurked for about a year on and off before signing up. I joined right after I got notice my job was ending, and this place has helped keep me sane while waiting for recruiters to call, job offers to come, breast cancer to be ruled out (it was), and all kinds of fun things like that. Plus all my filing is done, our books are now in alphabetical order, my yarn collection is mostly sorted (and 1/10 of it is sold, which has been used for my pen budget).

I expect to get my job offer (finally) within the next week, so I probably will be saving up for pens instead of talking about them quite so much.

I went into the local MB shop tonight and discovered they two pens I truly crave, so I might make one of them my "OMG, I have a job again!" pen. I'm working on my short list tonight. smile.gif

Can I enquire as to what pen and nib you used to write with?

How does the Baystate Blue compare to PR's Electric Blue? I've never seen either ink in person, but the descriptions sound similar to me.

Diedre: Let me add my voice to those who are very pleased that you joined this board and have become an active participant. Your contributions are always very helpful.

I used one of the glass dip pens from isellpens.com. It writes like a wet medium.

I wish I'd seen PR's Electric Blue, but I haven't.

Thank you for the compliment. smile.gif

Great Scans! I especially like the Tangerine Dream, very bright!

Lermoguaro!! That's a funny portmanteau! It must make the mix even more fun to use!!

No, seriously, I love these home-mixed semi-bulletproofs.

Well, I only had a bit left of each, and they were compatible colors....
