Full Version: NEW SONNET!?

Hi everyone I know people have posted this before but WOW the new sonnet looks EXACTLY the same! But I think there's a bit of a difference on the cap band but guess what they took out the insignia out of production! I guess the new Parker Sonnet Slim is taking over it which I don't mind at all. A very nice sleek ballpoint and the new sonnet mini isn't bad either. Opinions?

Thanks

I write primarily with ballpoint but looking at their site I see they have MANY new sonnets. My comments.

While the slim or mini may be the same as past slims/minis there are MANY new finishes available. Whoever at
Parker chose to offer new finishes should had knew what they were doing. For example, I had thought of getting
a Latitude but did not because I did not like the finish choices.

I also see the Sonnet Mono which appears smaller than the mini (or it is the same size)? The graphics on the site
seem to say it takes a full size parker refill (if the site graphics are working correctly for me). That is welcome
compared to the mini multipen refills which I could never find locally. Also, I really like the choice of finishes
for the mono.

About the quality and Sonnet BPs (and refill quality)....I was surprised that in my current Sonnet BP the
refill that came with it had a slightly different tip that didn't write well. Imagine my surprise then when, buying a
Parker refill, it wrote well BUT the tip of the refill did not come out/protude as much as the refill that came with it.
Imagine my further surprise when, buying another Parker refill in didn't store, that it also was slightly shorter than
the refill that came with the pen (and doesn't extend out as much). Putting the refills (all genuine Parker refills)
up against each other it can be seen the refills I purchased are a millimeter or 2 shorter in length. I also have
a refill that is longer than all of them including what came with the Sonnet. While perhaps a manufacturing variance
I can say that the Sonnet BPs mechanism/housing is quite dependent on the length of the refill...a bit too short and it appears
not to extend all the way on the Sonnets. My Jotter accepts all the refills and seems to leave a lot of the tip exposed
on all of them...definitely a refill thing. My you, the Sonnet still writes well with the refills but the its annoying that the
tip seems not fully extended.

Otherwise I definitely like the Sonnet...wish I knew so many new ones were coming out. Probably difficult to find
any new ones locally. If anyone gets the mono one in any form please let us know.

They are the same pens, only some little difference on the design of the caps and of the nibs, but the the pen is the same. J.M.L.
