If at first you don't succeed, failure may be your style!

A really nice collection! Wish this was in the Sheaffer forum.

Is that a Fred Force Targa?
Agamemnon

Hiya
spot on. Freddy's the third one in. The wooden pen next to it I believe is a prototype of which four were made. Breaks my heart but it's off to eBay next week for him. I have quite a few unlisted Targ's odd colours, shades etc. Can afford the big boys though; CP1, Foxhead, Emerald Laque. So going to start parting with them in order to pay for Christmas.

New to the network so don't know the protocols on pictures. Picture above is the core of my collection. Happy to post these or others on Sheaffer forum if thats the best place. Welcome your advice.
Thanks

VERY nice and impressive collection! How many Targas in all do you have?
Maja
ohmy.gif Wow, great collection, Agamemnon! How many of the Thin Targas do you have in total, by the way?

(oh, and I can move this thread to the Sheaffer Forum if you want me to, Agamemnon smile.gif )
Agamemnon
Hi
more than happy to move the thread, thanks.
Terrible as it sounds I don't know how many Targs I have. I'll count them when I get home tonight. Have tended to pick up the slightly unusual thin Targs. First ever purchase, and the hook, was a silver Lady Targ. All went a bit nutz from there. Don't actually write with a Targ. Daily pens are MB, Parker, Waterman, Aurora and a Sheaffer Balance.

Hey Agamemnon,
I bought a Sheaffer Slim Targa but im not happy with it.The nib on mine writes awfully. How are yours?
KCat
very nice pics - nice collection. i'm not big on slim pens but you make them look very inviting here.

the thread can go in either forum. or you can do a post with a direct link to this thread in the sheaffer forum. or vice versa for that matter.

If you like the pen enough, a good nibmeister can make it write the way you want it to. (No, that doesn't include turning an XF into a 3B! laugh.gif )

So far I haven't really gotten into Targas for my collection; I've worked on a ton of 'em, and I like 'em, so it's just a matter of time, I think. I did buy one at the Ohio show, a Flighter (?). The question mark is there because the pen has a steel nib (or maybe PdAg, it's not marked) and chrome furniture, and I'm sort of thinking that to be a "real" Flighter it needs to have gold. I gotta get that pen photographed, it has an amazingly sweet Accountant (XXF) nib.

Hi,

Richard, I am getting Emrecan's Targa for adjustment. Once it is tuned to perfection, I suppose he will like it. smile.gif

Great idea, KCat! I guess I am still trying to figure out what goes where laugh.gif
I think your idea is the best of both worlds....

Hi
I have about 12 pens I use on a regular basis, non of them Targa's. Have used a few on occassions but never a slim Targ, too dainty for me so can't comment on how they perform.

My biggest issue with the Targs is the damage done to the finish if you cap them when in use. Seen this a number of times when collecting. Its a personal thing but the pen doesn't fel right without the cap, looks understated and sits like a Bic. Hence don't actually use them.

I'll be 'liquidating' most of the collection next year and as yet don't know what to collect next, if anything. I enjoy the hunt and almost exhausted the Targas so need another challenge.

Noticed Pelikans are very popular amongst members and it's one pen thats never passed through my hands. Any suggestions on a good buy?
Dillo
Hi,

Please consider me when you are going to liquidate them biggrin.gif

I need something thin. By the way, I am thinking of liquidating my Reflex collection--too big for me.

Nice pens. biggrin.gif
