Dear Pen pals,
rolleyes.gif punn intended! I have always had a thing for pens and would need to have a fountain pen fix, every so often. I would run out and buy one of those cheap Shaeffer fountains at the drugstore (for journal notes) and use it til I misplaced it...

The last couple of years were very busy and I blanked on my pen fix... so this year I went all over looking for my "el cheapo pen", no pens did I find (except some varsity FP's/disposable, even the clerk said he wouldn't buy)!

To make a long story short, I now have a small collection started and found all my old Shaeffer's in stored shoeboxes... (cheap but sentimental). Tonight, I am trying out a Parker 51 I happened to get: I found a video on your site that was just GREAT, to fill the pen (hoping the stories I have read about the 51's reputation, "often will start right up years later, were true ...). Well, "yes it did"-"but it is not writing well..." YET. thumbup.gif

Anyway, I would like to say hi and THANKS, every time I research a topic your network pops up & helps me... and it's great to know there are so many people crazy about pens around. Precisely, Pen Pixie happyberet.gif [/font]

Pen Pixie, welcome to FPN.

It's too bad the clerk steered you away from the Varsity. It's a real sweet writer despite being a disposable. I recommend it as a knockaround pen, and for the price it doesn't hurt to get one and decide you hate it. I leave a Varsity out with my sign-in book when people visit my studio, and I keep another one next to the notepad on the magnetic holder on my refrigerator.

No, it's not the pen I use every day, but I'd take one with me if I were going somewhere I thought my belongings might not be safe. They're real nice for sketching and they are super-reliable. Nothing fancy about 'em, but that's OK. I have plenty of fancy pens too.

Hey Ondina, I am very unorganized right now, but I will make a note to take a pic of the Shaeffer when I get it together. Thanks for the welcome, it was a neat surprise from everyone! Pen Pixie
