Hi everyone,

I'm a new member and have THOROUGHLY enjoyed everyone's perspective, passion, and communal attitude. Thank you all for that. I've been a pen "geek" all my life (it seems) and have been an FP "geek" since about 2003--when I started grad school...hmmm any connections? My budget is limited, but I've quickly realized that one does not need a fat wallet to love FPs.

My question is re: the Parker Latitude. I'd love some thoughts/experiences with this pen. How is the medium nib? I'm a fan of the fine nib or even EF nib (unless it's a Japanese pen), but LOVE my Rotring Freeway M nib.

I'd love your feedback.

Regards,

Tina

PS: I'm eagerly awaiting the delivery of my Lamy AL-Star Graphite with an EF nib. It should be arriving Thursday!!!

You will love the Lamy I'm sure. I don't have any experience with the latitude NIB but I have held one in my hand and I like the balance and look of the pen. And welcome of course!

Hi Tina,

I do not think you will be disappointed with the Parker Latitude, as Parker makes great pens. I do not have the Latitude because I prefer larger pens (Duofold Centennials and Internationals, to name a few), but if you like slim pens, I'm sure you will like it.

My Latitude (medium) was a slow starter and skipped a bunch. I was not pleased. I would take the Lamy All-Star, Pilot Knight or Phileas over it any day.

This, of course, is based on a sample size of one . . .

Thank you for everyone's response so far. I was certainly weighing the Phileas vs. the Latitude. I have a Waterman Expert in F nib, and LOVE it. Just used it, by the way.

Many thanks!

Yes, in my case, at least. A cheap italic fountain pen became my regular writing sidekick midway through a PhD after I realized in horror that I couldn't read several cue cards full of notes that I had written only a couple of weeks before. Grad school may bring on various other lasting forms of insanity -- beware! thumbup.gif And enjoy your pens!

Hi,
I am a new member, but I own two Phileas pen with medium point nibs. I got a blue one at a local stationery store and fell in love with it right away. Then, I just received a black one with the same nib quality via PensNMore over Ebay. This black one came only with the pen, no box, no warranty, no converter, no refills but it was only $25 including SH. I have no experience with the Latitude. The Phileas pens are light, plastic bodies and not made of metal. Feel good and move quickly over paper.
