I have had my new Sheaffer Legacy Heritage, my first new sheaffer since the early 1980's, and while I love the looks and feel of the pen, as well as the inlaid nib. I am very disappointed with the quality of the converter. I thought maybe the one that came with the pen was an anomoly, but upon checking others, they all look as if there is no quality control at the factory. Maybe since it is a part that is not seen, not much effort is made to ensure it at least looks like it went together straight. The converters I have work just fine, but they look as if soneone with no sense of pride in their work made them. The steams are not straight, and neither are the plunger heads.
I guess that for the price of a Legacy, one would expect even the internal parts are made with care.

Question for Kaos ......................
Is it one of those screw down things or one of the older ones where you press a lever against the sac? I've had good luck with the older sac style; the screw down things, somewhat less.
Perhaps someone else could address a second point: is it my imagination, or do the older ones where you press a lever have greater ink capacity than the screw down things?
Perhaps someone else could also address a third point: I believe there are a few vendors who are associated with FPN who stock both types of converters. You might try getting one of the older style converters. They aren't very fancy looking but they are highly reliable.

I have the new screw type, and I hate to say this, but the Cross Converters look far superior.
My old Sheaffer from the early 1980's has the old slim line converter, and while dificult to use, it at least looks well made.
I guess only time will tell how well these new Sheaffer converters hold up.
