Full Version: What's the tiniest fountain pen?
The Fountain Pen Network > General Pen Topics > Pen History

A lot has been made lately on other pen websites about the smallest fountain pen, whether it's the Waterman's Doll pen, or the Peter Pan pen. Here are a couple of examples of both on Ebay.

Well, take a look at these micro fountain pens. They blow the other ones away.

Hi Rob, and all,

The Peter Pan is quite large at 3 1/4 inches long, as the Ebay listing states. The Parker pen-within-a-pen is also quite big, comparatively, as the picture next to a Waterman's #58 on Jonathan Steinberg's website witnesses.

The Ebay listing for the Waterman's pen states that the pen capped is 1 5/8 inch, and the barrel diameter is 5/16 inch. My recollection of the pen that Roger Cromwell owned is that the barrel diameter was more like 5/32 inch. Here's a picture of my hand holding Roger's pen and pretending to write the word "pen", to show the relative size of the pen when posted to my hand. It was a mint pen, and needless to say, he did not allow me to dip it. (;~)

The picture was taken by Miroslav Tischler at the 2003 DC pen show.

Very cool photo. I took me almost 3 years to find it, but I love it smile.gif

Wow, that's great to see(even if just pretend)!

I didn't know the doll pens actually worked! How many words can you write? Wait, are they just for dipping?

I want one.

I have he Filcoa fountain pen that is about the size of a rollerball refill. I don't know if I can find a picture right now but I will post a picture of mine tomorrow unless my girlfriend wants to do it while I am at work. I have the complete set in a leather box, pen, ballpoint, and a pencil. The fountain pen is 2 1/2" long X 1/4" in diameter. The othe pieces are about 1/4" longer due to the clickie on the end for the ballpoint and the pencil. They are really tiny. I thought about selling mine but it is a sweet novelty to have.

I want one too! Apparently they're eyedrop fillers, although I don't know how much you can actually write. Unfortunately they seem to be quite rare, and according to this article, they've been known to go for as much as $6000.... ohmy.gif

white_feather, is that the Kika fountain pen? Have you actually used the pen, or do you just have it for show? I'm contemplating getting one mostly for the cute factor, but I would want it to actually be a decent pen to write with... tongue.gif

I have dipped with it and wrote a few lines. The dropper needs to be checked and possibly replaced. Like I said, I have thought about selling it but it is yellow and looks like a mini Parker Doufold, plus it is a complete set with a carrying case and a storage case both of leather or fake leather. I am going to try to post pictures sometime today.

Thanks for the link, goldkiwi, good info there!
Guess I won't be buying one soon...

Does anyone know how much the eBay auction for the "doll" pen Waterman went?
