I am rather intrigued by the nib. I don't remember seeing one on a Boheme like this.

All nibs on the Boheme that I have seen are like this: The one I am familiar with.

It looks fake to me. Are there Bohemes that use converters? Really?

Also, fifty dollars? For reals?

The description brings to mind spam phishing scams.

I would pass.

Agreed! I do not like that nib. And the phishing scams also come to mind, but his feedback looks decent.

This is a fake.

Comparing with the photos on www.montblanc.com:
  • The nib is particularly bad. There isn't even a "k" after the 18. The M-in-a-star logo is sloppy and looks quite wrong, the decorative edging on the nib is missing, the lettering and logos are engraved rather than stamped into the metal, and they're off-center on the nib.
  • The words on the ring at the top of the section are upside-down. The bottoms of the letters should point towards the nib.
  • The section is metal, where real Bohemes have a black resin section.
  • The converter is not a Montblanc converter, which have different engravings, and the font used on it, though similar to the art-deco trademark font MB sometimes uses, has the letters too narrow.
It looks like the forgers spent a while on the outside of the cap, which makes sense in their game. It's also simpler to make.

If you are in the market for a Boheme, I am about to put one up on ebay. Its a boheme platinum crystal I bought at a mont blanc sale last year. I really need the money so I really need to sell it. :-)

Very good points! The nib is what set it off for me, but I wasn't sure the MB didn't come out with a plainer nib.

Thank you for the great input.

I actually have 3 Boheme's and had a Rouge that I just sold as the fine point just wrote too wet regardless of the ink in tried in it. Loved the aesthetics of the pen though. One of MBs nicest in my view.

Fake!

What i look at first are the Rings... and then some of the markings under the clip.. smile.gif

I have had a gentleman utterly refuse to believe me when I told him that unfortunately his pen was a fake.
I shudder to think what price he paid for it.

That being said, there are some impressive Classiques hitting the market.. most notably the rollerballs. The refills are threaded the markings look almost right.. on the refill that is. The number is present. Just lots of little things that give it away.

Apart from the fact that the Mont Blanc rb refills don't fit.... although I would not be suprised if that were to change soon. >_<

Not a great fan of MBs, but a came up with a few of these, nib in particular didn't look like any I had seen and I don't recall seeing them with a metal section. Engraving for serial number etc also didn't look right.

Even if I liked MBs, I wouldn't buy one from any old dealer on ebay, any going cheap will be suspect although a high price doesn't mean it's genuine, I have seen some awful looking fakes going for high prices to people that don't know better.

The stone also indicates that this is a fake. There are no plain black Bohemes with a diamond or crystal stone, only onyx, ruby, saphire, or no stone at all.

Aysedasi
It finished at over $162! That's a lot of money to pay for a fake pen....... sad.gif
