Have pen where the cap band broke. Corrosion, not phhysical damage or celluloid shrinkage. I have a replacement and need to know how to put it onto the barrel. Do I heat the ring and slide it on? Freeze the cap to allow it to shrink?

Help.

thanks in advance.

If no one else posts, try e-mailing Ron Zorn at Main Street Pens. He has a side specialty? in cap bands. He may not tell you how, but he might be able to do it for you. It's not as easy as you might think. The band needs to be crimped to the cap... not easy. You might be able to get to on by working with heat, but I wouldn't.
