Hello,
I have a Sheaffer fountain pen. It has a metal cylinder resevoir, with a small black button. It states it is a 'Sheaffer Push Button Fill'. It has the white dot and the nib says Sheaffer, but no model name. The pen itself is black but has wavey gold lines, giving an effect of scales, over the entire length of the pen body and cap.
Can anyone tell me how old it is? Or shed some light about the push button filling system.
Thanks,
Donald

Hi,
I assume you mean that the filler is inside the pen rather than part of the pen.
Sheaffer did make a button fill converter I think 1960/70s, I have one which still works fairly well. If it is one of these, they can pull off so you can use cartridges or one of the other Sheaffer squeezy fillers.

Hi,
The push-button converter was Sheaffer's second converter design. It was used from the mid to late 1960s.
You might want to check out this
article. There's information there on all the Sheaffer converter designs.
