Greetings from Stuttgart Germany.

I am a recent convert to fountain pens, after making my first one about 4 months ago. My other (primary) addiction is pen making, and I found out about this site through IAP. My wife is starting to realize that I have 2 addictions and that my military salary will not support both of them (usually not either of them!!). I am looking forward to learning a lot here about the world of fountain pens. I currently have 2 that I use daily (both made by me - not commercial ones). One is inked with Noodler's Lexington Grey and the other is inked with Pelikan Brilliant Red (that one is for correcting reports!). I am getting back into writing more and using the computer less (if that is even possible these days). Again, I look forward to meeting everybody and learning more and more about this world.

Welcome to FPN. You've chosen very complimentary hobbies. You'll find enthusiasts of both on here.

Welcome! Always good to see people from the nation of my birth.

Welcome to FPN.

Would you post some pictures of your self-made pens? That sounds interesting.

Best regards

Thanks for all the welcoming. I should add some more about myself... I am not originally from Germany. I am Active Duty Army stationed here (for the 2nd time). I am originally from Florida (Melbourne - east of Orlando). I have about 10 years left in the military before "retirement" and am looking forward to the rest of my career. Thanks again for the welcomes. I look forward to learning more from you

Stuttgart, huh? How long have you been there? Do you get to do much pen turning over there? I was with a unit that moved to Stuttgart some years ago. I wonder if it is the same one you are with.

Hi Don
I am living in Pforzheim, just some 40 km from Stuttgart.
For shopping, you may go to Esslingen. Martin Lesny runs a pen shop at Hafenmarkt 5. For he works some years at Harrods in London, he speaks english perfect.

Hello and Welcome to FPN

My travels to Germany include Damme, Frankfort, Osnabruek, Arnstadt and Thuringia. All of them great trips (even though it was for buisness) and love going there.

Don, I know what you mean about that military salary and hobbies! My pen collecting was on serious hiatus during my tour. I did Reforger '85 in Germany and now I'm working with compainies in Dusseldorf and Berlin. When I was over there in November I noticed a much wider variety of pens in the shops than back in the '80s. Some really neat stuff. Unfortunately, the euro/dollar value kept me from getting anything - this time anyway!
When do we get to see some pics of your creations?
