I've been intrigued by the idea of the VP, shortly after getting into this hobby. But, up until today, had never seen one in person, or written with one. A good buddy of mine on FPN was kind enough to send me his to "test drive." It is a regular VP, light burgundy w/ gold trim, and fitted w/ a .8mm Binder stub nib. It writes very well, but alas it is not for sale. I've seen on here somewhere a comparison between all 3 VP models, but can't seem to locate it at the moment. Maybe some of you have 2 or even all 3 of the models, and you could provide some direction on this anticipated next purchase of mine?

Thanks,
Tony

Here's a link to a comparison of the Decimo and Fermo, but I didn't see a review that had all three: Decimo & Fermo review

I did a review of the Fermo and compared it to the regular VP...

kiavonne, thanks for the link. I knew I had read it somewhere. Doug, you did a fantastic job on this review. I am holding the loaner VP now. While I do like it, from what I've read about the Fermo, I would like the finish and fit a little more. I think the Decimo would be far too light for my tastes. When I get ready to buy one, where do I go? I'm sure I would want to order a seperate, Binder CI or stub nib unit anyway, unless you can order them ground that way already? And what colors are available on the Fermo? I see the blue in your review, and I saw an all silver color either here or on eBay. Is that it?

I just ordered a VP from Richard Binder. You can order the body and nibs seperately, so if you want a stub or cursive italic instead of the stock nib, you can do that.

I couldn't find them in the U.S. so I ordered at Ujuku in Japan with no problem. I think shipping was $11 and it was a straight forward no muss no fuss order. Aside from dark blue, it comes in dark green, black, and that silvery color. By the way, there are some very tempting Pilot fountain pens on that Ujuku page. Japan only models...

My mistake, you were looking for the Fermo. headsmack.gif

I'll have fun looking at it, but as the VP is heavy enough for me, I think I'll pass on the Fermo for now.

Be sure to let us know which one you get, though, and give us your thoughts!

edit: omg, that black and red capless sure looks nice though! Dang my budget! I'm going to have to wait, but that one is on my wishlist. Thanks a lot, HDoug. tongue.gif
