Found a version of the 1911 on SailorPens.com that I haven't seen before. Note that the end is flat and that the barrel is a single color. No black end caps here. It resembles the Pilot 78G but is high quality resin with a 21K nib. Anyone seen one of these or know if the size has changed?

Hi,
these are the old style 1911.

The flat top cap with anchor logo is available on Pro-Gear and its little sisters, Sapporo and Mini Pro-Gear.

Bye!!!

I have one in dark blue that I purchased in 2005. I much prefer this design to the one with the black end caps. In fact, I dislike black end caps on ANY pen. They're ugly.

I have to say I like the old design better, except the trim ring near the nib.

Wow! It goes to show how different our personal tastes can be. I think I like the current "classic" torpedo shaped 1911 better than these older versions. I also think black end caps are classy. I am thinking in terms of the old 1920's Duofolds as my benchmark. I am not being pejorative, I am just commenting on the difference in perceptions. At least we all like Sailor pens. thumbup.gif

The US release for the 1911 actually was redesigned w/o the trim ring and having the flat-top w/ anchor logo. I like it better than the current one .
