Symphonies. Erano said it. Binder wrote about it. These are sweet writing pens.
Here is one that came in today. Slipper cap (early version). Set includes a BP.
The FP is the gem smile.gif

I've been thinking about getting one. As vintage pens go, these are pretty much neglected. Everyone is busy trying to get Snorkles, Vacumatics, Dufolds and other "must have pens" that now mostly sell from $150 - $500. The poor Symhony is a neglected jewel. I guess by the time the rest of the pen community decides the "it pens" cost too much and start looking at this beautiful little pen, i will have bought several at a real bargain. Most of these babies at near mint or uninked sell for $100 or less.

I inherited one from my uncle. It is a very nice pen. He used his for bookkeeping his business records, so it has a fine stiff nib.

here is my favorite Symphony.

It has a nasty crack in the section threads (not shown) but other than that is a cool and I would guess somewhat hard to find pen!

I've never seen another Symphony full demonstartor like this one . happyberet.gif happyberet.gif

I am breathless....what a treasure you have. Get it repaired, Richard Binder can repair cracks on celulose. Get it restored and enjoy the heck out of it.

I'm with you. I started to learn about these when i tossed a few up for grabs on my website, after they'd arrived as part of a larger collection. Since then i've sought them out. Write beautifully. Fairly chunky pens. Lots of color/variety to hunt. Richard Binder has what i believe to be the most detailed profile online for this series. I probably have 20 of 'em lying around, some just about back from restoration. Note the cap styles. Barrels evolved too.

The early slipper cap pens do charm.

My uncle had a Jade Sheaffer flat top, jr. size for around 20 years and it was well used, stained, cracked, and guaranteed for life so one day he went down to get a new Sheaffer. Of course they didn't make the pen anymore and couldn't fix it, I found out later. He came back with a black Symphony with gold cap and mad at Sheaffer.

David you gonna be at the Long island or Boston shows? I may go to Long Island definately will be in Boston. will try to bring it.

It will need a trip to Richard to fuse the crack at some point.
