Hi, all,

I have an MB 146 and 149 from the 80's I've just started using again, and really like the way they write. I would like to purchase a new model, and would like to try one in all silver, or silver with gold trim. I've looked around and have seen the solitaires in silver and the silver fiber models.

What was/is the largest Mont Blanc that can be had in solid silver? I like a heavier/thicker pen so I wouldn't want to get one that is too thin. Is the 146 the largest silver model? Does MB offer something similar to the Pelikan Majesty? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for your input.

Hey Fred -

Montblanc's US website lists a range of silver and platinum pen sizes: (including a 149)

The bad news - these are all going to be more expensive than a sterling silver Pelikan Majesty.

I have an early 90's 146 solitaire, and it is one beautiful pen.

Good writer too - as expected. If you already like the size of the 146 then this is a decent alternative to the original, albeit a little heavier, so not really ideal if you post pens.

It'll make the wallet cringe, but if you do go out for one, then you'll certainly turn heads. good luck.

Just noticed that you have the 'Delta Dolce Vita Twin Desk Set in Bold'

Thatr is on of the most eyecatching desk sets I have ever come across. Great choice. Pretty rare to see it too.

Hey Bren -

Yeah - I really like the Delta desk set - as a matter of fact I bought two of them - one in broad - and then an extra fountain pen in medium - so the set has twin fountain pens - one in broad for notes, letters, and signatures - one in medium for forms with small little info spaces. The nibs are nice wet writers, with just a bit of tactile feedback as they move over the paper.

One of our local Atlanta brick and mortar stores, ArtLite, stocks the Delta sets, and always has them on display.

The marbled orange resin set rests on a crescent shaped blonde oak desk - very contemporary - so the pens fit right in.

I understand Delta now makes these sets in other resin colors - white, green, black, and maybe some others.

I have a 147, Traveller, in vermeil on its way which I am looking forward to getting. I have a 147 in the standard black and a 144 solitaire in barleycorn finish which is a real gem of a pen. You mention the Majesty well i have one which has only been dipped which I intend to list in the marketplace. PM me if you would like pictures.
