I have a MB 145, and it has been slightly scratchier than usual lately. It feels and sounds like there a grain of sand stuck in the tip. Does anyone know what feeling I'm talking about? Anyways, I also think that at the end of a stroke, it blobs a little. Maybe I'm just being a little over critical since the scratchiness started. I'm not to sure what to do... unsure.gif
If I do take it back to Montblanc (it is still within the warranty) what do you think the turnaround time will be?
EDIT: Oh, and thanks for any replies!

it sounds to me like the tines have become mis-aligned. you can check it with a magnifying glass.

I checked for this potential problem with a x3 and a x6 magnifying glass, and I don't think I see anything. Would a misalignment be very noticeable, because I might not be looking hard enough. Plus, what would cause this problem?

10 days is about typical.

I am far from being an expert but it looks like your tines need some adjustment.
I have few scratchy nibs and I also couldnt see it on a magnefying glass but the experts did and fixed it for me.

If it bothers you and you dont want to mess with it yourself send it to a pen expert.

Thank You. I think I will drop buy MB during the March Break.

Try this: Put the magnifying glass right next to your eye (like a jewelers loupe). Then point the pen point directly at you and move it back and forth until in comes into focus. Looking straight on at the point of the pen, he two sides of the nib should be perfectly even with each other. If one is even slightly above the other, then that is what is causintg the scratchiness. Because you say it is splotching, makes me think it is going to be noticable once you know what to look for.

What causes it? I suppose the simple answer is that one side got bumped hard enough to move it out of line. It could have happened sometime when you put the cap on, or by any of a lot of other minor mishaps.

ouch! I Have to be more careful.
Ummm, dumb question, but should I be scrutinizing top side or bottom of the nib?

Look at it like this.

notice the left side is lower than the right. this nib probably is scratchy too. Yours is probably mis aligned in a more noticable way. this one is only uneven ot bottom.
