Terrific Kudzu!, and I appreciate your kind comment. You might put a stamp on the other side and use it as a postcard or enclose it in an envelope. I like sending rubber stamped envelopes and cards, because the real cancel marks and real wear and tear obtained through mailing add further details to enjoy. I hope this is the start of many enjoyable projects, and please show them when you can. thumbup.gif

I received a letter from Jeen, and can vouch that his is about the most interesting stuff to arrive through the post.

Dear Fred, Thank you for your generous comment. Your hand made Spanish paper was a treat!
Sadly haven't written anything for a while, but here's an update and a new offering from rainy Tin Can Isle -
The humidity warped the flaps, so the toys are there to keep things flat for the pictures. smile.gif

Jeen, your envelopes & postcards are always so facinating to study. They are a real inspiration for me. Thanks for taking the time to post them. I hope to see more here when you have time to create.

OMG Jeen!!! Those are great! You can't really mail them like that... or can you?????? Those are just so fun!!!
Cedar
It's jeen's fault. ALL jeen's fault! First fountain pens. Kaching! Then the inks. So many pretty colors. Kaching. Then a couple of snail mailers (had to find someone to use those pens & inks on). Then more paper. Lots of paper. Then better paper. Then jeen posts those beautiful envelopes.............arghhhh! I just HAD to try that, too. First a trip around the internet and to Leavenworth Jackson's site. Kaching! Then, on a trip I stopped in a rubber stamp store to pick up just a few more rubber stamps only to find the store was closing and had everything at half off! Kaching! Kaching! KACHING! But what a deal! Ok. It's rotten but I'm having a blast and the envelopes are becoming the most fun part! Thanks, jeen, for the sharing the idea and the inspiration.

We have seen many wonderful examples of stamps, but let’s not forget stamp pads. It seems that some inks of Private Reserve are available as stamp pads. See their homepage.

Sometimes I wonder, if this is sensible: Buy some un-inked stamp pad and pour any ink you want on it. But there may be some inks that are not good for that purpose.
jeen
Thank you for your very kind responses.
Polly and Jill, I feel equally inspired by the envelopes I've received, including the wonderful ones you have sent me. I hope to receive more!
Cedar, sorry for the expenditures embarrassed_smile.gif , but I hope the fun makes it worthwhile. Hope someday you will show some of your envelopes to inspire us.
Juhtov, I haven't tried the PR pads yet. While my fountain pen ink palette is conservative, my rubber stamp ink pad palette is ever expanding, and I'm sure I'll give them a try.
Knowledge of fp inks is very helpful for stamping by the way.
Best,
Jeen

Edit to add another envelope. Sorry it's a bit singed. happyberet.gif

Tin Can Isle is actually the summit of a shield volcano with a history of eruptions since the 1800s.
A major eruption in 1946 forced the evacuation of most of its inhabitants. Resettlement was allowed by 1959, and
TC mail service resumed in 1962.

A completed volcano altered envelope from Tin Can Isle.
This one will need address labels. happyberet.gif

And a Happy one -

These are great, Jeen! Might I ask what technique you used to *volcanically distress the envelopes?

(*probably not a real word, but it was the only one that came to mind.)
jeen
Hi Polly,

I used a product that's called Distress Ink + sponge applicator, although one could use a diluted paint mixture.
The splatter was done with Waterman Havana brown, Quink black, and brown watercolor slurry.
a big mess and lots of fun. biggrin.gif
It's a wonderfully rainy Sunday here for making envelopes and catching up on long delayed letters.

Cheers,

Ok, inspired by Jeen, I've done a theme on India. Since my rubber stamps are limited, I use a combination of computer graphics, rubber stamps and glue-ons. Still working the bugs out of my production skills, but practice makes perfect (eventually!). Very fun. [edited to add that since I play volleyball, there's a reference in there to that, too.]

Kudos Kudzu! That's looking great!!!
Con
Wow.

Some great stuff here; really nice.

I stamp and emboss, make cards, and scrapbooks ....

Currently working on one for my sister that moved
across the country in her early 20's and missed the last
30 years of family life here in NY.

Perhaps someday I'll get it finished but it's hard because
I keep taking more pics to include. yikes.gif
jeen
Nice Kudzu! Glad you're having fun, and looking forward to seeing more.
Hi Con, hoping to see some of your creations too!
Haven't been stamping lately, but I made this after seeing some weather beaten trail signs on a hike today. happyberet.gif
The envelope is Crane's Kent in Cambridge blue.
Cheers, Jeen

I am really enjoying this thread! I hope more people will post their creative envelope/postcard/stationery art.
wvbeetlebug
I like the inspiration from the signs. That is great!
Cedar
OK. Here are my first attempts. I'm pleased with some of it but not all of it. Ah well, it takes some practice and I like leaving space for the addresses.
Onward! (now all I have to do is figure out how to attach the scans....)

Cedar

Very Nice! I like how you got different effects with using the same stamp, different colors, etc.
jeen
Terrific Cedar! I like the way you are overlapping images. Obtaining a palette of inks varying in both color and saturation
is very helpful in this regard.
Here's one back at ya, and wishing everyone a happy w-end.

Zoe
Very nice work, Jeen.

I wonder where you purchased the Dutch stamp. I miss Amsterdam, and the stamp certainly caught my attention.
jeen
Hi Zoe,

I love the fact that Tin Can Mail used multiple foreign language rubber stamps. It provides a sense of community among the
seafaring visitors and denizens of the south Pacific.
Here are the languages that were used on the envelopes:
Tongan
Dutch
Greek
German
English
French
Flemish
Spanish
South African Dutch
The stamps I used were special order replicas.

Best,
Jeen

Wow! I'm not the pro stamper that many of you are, but I do use rubber stamps, only to decorate my letters. I like to spice up snail-mail letters and make them unique and interesting, but I'm not "crafty" enough (or visually creative enough!) to stamp cards or other creations.

I don't photograph all my letters by any means, but some stamped examples (and FP shots!) are mixed in here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/greenvelvet/s...57605397575815/

I love seeing others' stamped work and letters!

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your letters, envelopes, & stationery, GreenVelevet. I enjoyed looking at them.
GreenVelvet
Thanks for looking, p-zero!
