I have recently become a Moleskine fan, what recommendations do you have for a pen that will not bleed through "all the moleskines"? Meaning I have a planner, journal, etc.?

Thanks,

Hi Amie and welcome to FPN! I also have this issue with the paper from this company. While there are some people who have never had issues with Moleskines, I find that I can only write on one side of the paper and, at that, it does bleed through. I have therefore stopped writing in Moleskine journals. I believe the finer the nib, the less bleeding will occur. Also, the less saturated inks might be a good bet. Diamine and J.Herbin don't bleed as much as the Private Reserve or Noodlers.

There have been many discussions on this very topic and they are probably in the paper forum. I know that may not be a help to you but I always rely on some generous person to post links to the exact discussion because I rarely have the time (or success) when faced with doing a search!

I hope this helps but in any event, welcome! smile.gif

The ink is more of an issue than the pen proper. In general, a finer point will deliver less ink and thus reduce the risk of bleed through. I usually use medium nibs and haven't had any bleedthrough problems yet.

interesting, I had more of a problem with my moleskin's paper not accepting my Private Reserve ink than bleeding through...

Hi and Welcome to the FPN!! I have recently purchased an Apica Notebook and so far so good. I have only used my Waterman Phileas with Diamine ink at this point but will try other pens/inks as I go.
I am not a number
Hi Amie,

with Moleskines there seems to be an issue with variable quality (which Moleskine are keen to correct - they want poor ones sent back so that they can sort out their QA process). I use a cheap and cheerful Hero 329 on my Moleskine planners and it works well. Bear in mind that the ink you use can be a big factor in bleeding through the paper so you may want to think about that as well.

Anyway, have fun around here!
