Let me preface this by saying that I know there are many claims related to who invented the fountain pen. And I realize that it's as much of a series of improvements over time rather than one single invention.

Recently while looking for some info on Rochester, NY ... I've seen several claims that two people, Absalom Bishop and Thayer Codding, take some kind of credit for the invention of the fountain pen.

Is there any factual basis for this claim? If so, what was their involvement?

Thanks!
