In 1983 my wife gave me a new Sheaffer Targa, and I have used it for years. I have had to replace the 'insides" because I damaged the nib. Otherwise, it has been a great pen. I would like to know exactly what the "title" or "name" of my pen is. I will describe it: All steel outer housing. Black on the top of the cap and black on the end of the barrell. Steel medium nib. To fill with ink, I unscrew the lower part of the housing and dip nib into ink bottle and squeeze the little metal strip that covers what appears to be a rubber sac. Can you tell me what this pen was called in 1983 when my wife bought it for me?

Sure sounds like a model 1001 Brushed Stainless Steel. If the clip is gold it's model 1001X. If the clip and nib are both gold it's model 1001XG.
