Just wondering how long it has been since pens were designated as being made in West Germany.
tnt
Probably after reunification of East and West Germany in October of 1990, if my memory serves me right.

Thanks. I recently got a pen in a stationery shop on sale marked way down. I noticed today that is was made in W. Germany. Than means the pen has probably been in the store for around 17 years. No wonder it was on sale.

Any pen with the words "Made in W/Germany/West Germany/WG" etc etc...would've been made in what was previously West Germany, between the years roughly after the end of the Second World War in 1945 until the reunification in 1989/1990...

...which really wasn't that long ago :|

Someday, if someone has a spare or a parts pen, I want the cap from a West German Lamy 2000. smile.gif

I think 3 October 1990 was the official date. For product marking you should count several months more I think.

I was born in West Germany. It's surprising how many people try to correct me & tell me I was born in Germany. I wasn't. The country name can't change in retrospect. I have a friend who was born in Rhodesia. Not Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe didn't exist then.

Regards

Richard.

quite true, just the same as I was not born in the Kingdom of England or the Kingdom of Great Britain.
