Hi - I manage an estate jewelry store and I recently purchased a number of what I believe are collectable pens. One is a Krone "A Place in Time" and there are several Mont Blancs, Cartier, and few other names that I can't think of right now. My questions are:1) Is there a way for me to place a value on these pens? 2) Is there a website or publication which can help me figure out what they are and if they are rare? I think thats it. Any advice on how to handle these pens would be great.

A good place to look to identify pens is Richard's Pens. Click on the "My Pen Collection" link on the left menu.

As for prices, looking at the various retailers will give you an idea of what a restored and warranted pen is worth. A search of E-Bay can give you an idea of what pens of unknown history are worth.

Once you know what pens you have, a search of the Classifieds and Market Watch section here will give you an idea of what collectors will pay and sell pens for. There is always a wide range on seemingly similar pens due to subtle differences in them

Good Luck

Take a picture of the pens and post them at the right forums here at the FPN and ask if people know what their value is.

www.richardspens.com is an excellent resource for identifying pens. Alternatively, take a bunch of photographs and put them on the site here in this thread. The more knowledgeable members will be able to pick out what the pens are. (It helps if you can include measurements.).
