This is my random thought for the day. Could anyone out there with a set of calipers measure how thick the metal is that is used to make your nib and post it for me? You might also mention what it's made from, gold, steel, titanium, other. Thanks!

Nib thickness tends to vary depending on where you measure it. They are often, if not usually, tapered in thickness.

Never cared much for long nibs, but I must recognize thickness matters in performance. Thicker is best.

Not necessarily,,, it depends on what you are looking for in a nib...

I usually use italic medium, italic broad, music nibs, and have a wonderfully flexible nib that varies between fine and BBB.

The nibs that I use are .009"
I learned in my endeavors to add flex to my nibs that they are the same thickness throughout.
I use Bexley gold nibs, 14k gold Bocks, and Taccia steel nibs, among some others...
