That's a beautiful color on that pen - nice choice. I've been eyeing the Taccia brand for a while, and I'm glad to hear that you are happy with yours. Is the pen as heavy as it looks?

The pen is slightly heavier than a Namiki VP. It certainly has some heft to it but not too much to make it burdensome to write with. It feels comfortable in the hand and it has a solid, durable feel to it. Here's a writing sample:

Hi dslknight
I want to ask you something about the nib.Is it smoothed by the Richard Binder?or is it writes smoothly OOTB(out of the box)?

Nice job, Harold. If only it didn't have that metal section. Just my personal problem, but I can't shake it.

nice pen and pics, harold! i too, like roger, have reservations about the metal section. i wonder if the engraving on the section gives you a better grip, which is my main gripe wrt metal sections.

Nice pen and pics. Thought about the Doric myself, but just haven't made it to it on my list yet.
Nice thing about buying from Richard is that he tests and adjusts any nib as needed unless you request that he not (usual disclaimer).

Thank you all for the comments! Like southpaw said, Richard adjusts the nibs on any pens you order from him unless you tell him not to. While I don't know if the Doric needed any adjustment, I imagine that Richard did smooth down the nib. The engraving on the metal section doesn't really provide any added grip. When holding it, the metal section feels completely smooth as if there were no engraving. It's a pretty pen. Now I think it's time to start looking at some vintage pens.

I really like the look of that Taccia Doric. I've been thinking of getting on in blue myself. I especially like the gun metal finish on the section and clip.

Hi Harold,
Congratulations with your newest addition. The resin, I assume it is resin, looks similar to the celluloid in some pens like the Tibaldi 60 (I think it is the 60, or was it the 50?), and the Stipula Etruria Indian Nights. Very pretty indeed!
Warm regards, Wim

That's my problem, too, Davy Can't grip it successfully in spite of my having trained myself to use a very light grip of late. I still slide sround the section if it's metal.

Thanks for posting the photos, Harold. It's a very nice-looking pen. For some reason, I thought the Taccia Doric was a small pen (maybe I was thinking about my small vintage Wahl-Eversharp Doric

) The colour pattern is lovely...

The gun metal finish is one of the reasons I was attracted to this pen. That and the flowing look of the resin.

Thank you for the comments! Indeed it is resin! I never thought of it but you're right it does look a little similar to the Stipula.

Hi Roger,
Sometimes I do find that the metal grip doesn't work, especially when my hands have even the slightest bit of lotion. Thank God for having more than one pen

Hi Maja,
When I bought the pen, I thought it was going to be a small pen too since I didn't have anything to compare it to. When I got it in the mail, I was surprised to see such a wide pen. It's certainly much bigger than either the Pelikan GO or the Namiki. After finding it does write very well and feels quite comfortable to use, it's size doesn't bother me anymore.
Best regards,
Harold

If it is a smooth writer compared to your Go and VP, that must be a smooth writer indeed.
Yet another pen to put on my list.
