Details? What size is it compared to other Pelikans? Solid construction, etc.?

I started to refer you to the earlier thread about the Ductus from back in November, but I see that you started that one, too smile.gif Hopefully, someone will get their hands on one soon and share their impressions.

Let us know if you find anything out.

It'd be great to see a side by side photo of the Ductus with a 400 and 800.

I queried Pam Braun and she said it is slightly longer but slimmer than an M800 and a bit heavier. The gold trim version is due out in March.

Good information. I like the looks of it.

Me, too. A very handsome pen, indeed. I have one on order from Pam.

Got one today from Swisher Pens, a fine point. It's almost exactly the same size as an M800, essentially the same weight, too, so far as I can tell. I find it very attractive in a Pelikanish sort of way, a new interpretation of "classic". The translation to the new nib is very accurate with the fine point having the same width as on the 800. The surprise for me was how smooth it is. MmmmMmmmMmmmmmmm. The sweet spot is larger than on my 800 standard issue, too.

Pelikan got it right with the cartridge. It hadn't occurred to me until I inserted it how it will prevent the cartridge from disengaging from the feed, as sometimes happens in pens that have a little too much space inside the barrel. It's a nice touch.

Color me very please. I think Pelikan has another winner.

Thanks for the report, MacP smile.gif

I just got one too. Very attractive and classy pen. Solid and the nib i think looks great. Something different. Stiffer than the normal Pelikan nib, but i like that and it is smooth. this will be a classic.

I bought a gold Ductus from Pam Braun, F nib, and am quite pleased. As others have said, it's a very classy-looking pen. The nib is smooth and reminiscent of the nibs on the Lamy Persona, the early MB Noblesse, and the Dupont Classique Laque de Chine. I like that this version of the nib is two-toned, which (IMO) gives it more definition than the earlier silver version. The only drawback to the cartridge system is that there is no way to check how much ink is left without removing the cartridge entirely from the nib section.

I have understood from this thread that the Ductus is a cartridge only pen. Is that correct?

No one has yet commented on whether the nibs are interchangeable. I am assuming they are not. Is that assumption correct?

HI The Ductus nib unscrews but whether or not the nib units from any other Pelikan pen would fit in there I can not say. The carriage that holds the cartridge will easily take a Pelikan converter, the long full sized one, and then it screws down and places the cartridge/converter directly onto the back of the feed. Once screwed on, the carriage holds the cartridge in place tightly and there is none of the play or looseness that sometimes can happen with a cartridge.

It is a nice pen. I have been surprised by how many people have not liked the look of it. Hey, to each his own and all that. But if you are the kind of person to whom a different shaped nib might appeal, then the pen is worth a look. I get sort of tired of all the traditional shaped nibs and think it is cool when someone does something else. For a long time I thought I wanted to get hold of one of those old Fingertip nib pens. They look so cool. But reading up on them made me realize there are some potential repair issues I did not want to deal with.
