While stalking the wild FP this summer, I found one made by the Eagle Pencil Company. It is in rather rough shape: the furniture is corroded. the riveted clip is loose, the lever is missing. I replaced the sac and fill the pen by pressing a coin against the pressure bar.
The nib is small in relation to the rest of the pen. The imprint is:
14
-K
written inside a shield.
The tines of this nib are misaligned. On other pens, I use my fingernail to gradually apply pressure to one tine, slowly increasing the stress in successive tweaks until alignment is achieved. This is a very flexible nib, however, and I am nervous about bending a tine that much for fear of winding up with a sprung nib. I have smooth-jawed needle nose pliers, but they seem rather clumsy for such delicate work - can't gauge pressure well with them.
Any advice?
