Hello everyone,
I have always been interested in fine pens and today I purchased a montblanc from Costco.
It is a meisterstuck ballpoint (black/plat) but was wondering how I determine what model # it is.
It has "Germany" and the serial no. inscribed on the clip ring, and says "meisterstuck pix" on the other ring.
The only paperwork that I received was a "service guide booklet" is that correct?

thank you in advance for any help

Hey Wings -

Congrats on your new pen. I've had one of these ballpoints with gold furniture for over twenty years. It has filled out every carbon AirBill I have ever shipped.

You can see all Montblanc pens at their website www.montblanc.com and www.montblanc-us.com.

Is this your pen? http://www.montblanc-us.com/products/black...sique.02866.php

Have fun with your new toy.

Do they sell MB FPs at Costco?

Costco? I thought that was a bygone era...

I've occasionally seen the ballpoints there, but not the fountain pens.

Costco has an interesting strategy; they rotate all kinds of products in and out without warning, and purposefully don't label their aisles to encourage you to wander the store and pick up things along the way. The end result? If you're not careful, you end up at the register with $300 of stuff that you didn't intend to by when you arrived at the store. ohmy.gif

I've never been to a Costco before. That sound interesting though, with the unmarked aisles. I wonder if wings has resolved his problem yet?

Yikes, I forgot to include anything on the MB's at Costco. The model I've seen there is the 164 ballpoint. While I can't speak for Montblanc, I think that your store receipt should be good enough for getting warranty service if needed.

Thanks for everyones help,
This is actually my second MB, my wife bought me a generations ball point several years ago.
Costco does have a small selection of MB at most of their stores. The pen i bought is a ball point and I think it is a 164? but i'm not sure.
I was under the impression that the model number was inscribed on the ring after meisterstuck, but instead mine say PIX.
I paid $200 for the pen, it included a black leather case able to hold 3 pens.

any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated,

thanks again,
wings

For a while, years back, our local Costco had the Hemmingway BP for $200. I can' believe I didn't buy one at the time. If I knew then what I know now I would have travelled the state and bought all I could find.

"Pix" is the name that Montblanc originally gave to its pencils, and when ballpoints came along, they used the Pix brand for them too.

If you look into the vintage years section of http://www.fountainpen.de (the links near the top with year ranges) a few vintage Pix pieces show up there.

MB made some innovative pencils back in the day. I like this 4-color pencil, which has a twist select where you point the arrow to the desired color, and then activate the mechanism. Inside, it must have four mini clutch pencils that extend like ballpoint cartridges or something:

Websearches on Montblanc Pix and Pix-o-mat will turn up more examples.
