I decided to take the plunge on an Aurora 88 Nikargenta. A wonderful deal from Penwa, drop-shipped to me 2nd day air for free direct from Kenro. Fantastic first impressions. Nice size and look. Amazing piston operation. The 14k medium has great flow, smooth but tactile (a la Aurora), and a bit on the fine side - which I expected and enjoy. I'll try for some pics a little later . . .

Hey opus, do you have the regular piston filler or the medium sized c/c one? I own the C/C and it IS wonderful. A bit toothy but definitely not skippy!

After reading this, it occurred to me that there are a few very classic pens still left out there. After I started collecting pens many, (many) years ago, the 88 was one of those pens to lust after. I am now on the hunt for two or more Nakayas, a (new generation) OMAS milord Arco, and a couple of others, but just hearing about this pen brings back memories.

This is the kind of pen to leave to future generations.

I hope you love it.

Congrats on the new 88, Opus. I got my 88 O/S a number of years ago and had an italic nib retrofitted. It has performed flawlessly for many years. I hope you will one day also be able to add "durable" to your list of attributes of the 88.

Well done - what ink are you going to run it that baby?
