My bad. The grip is stainless steel. The pen I have is on Montgomery Stationery. The description reads "Moulded plastic barrel and cap in an unusual and opulent purple, with contrasting stainless steel grip and chrome colored trim."
It sure is a dang solid pen for a plastic barrel and cap.
I'm not sure I'd describe that purple as opulent, but it is a very nice purple. I don't think I'd like most purples for a pen, but the Profile's purple is very pleasing.
I wrote a brief
comparison of the I.M. aka Profile and the Vector about a year ago. Sorry, but the pictures are of a black Profile and not the purple.
My opinion? If it's a choice between plastic models, I'd rather have the Profile. They have exactly the same nib, but the Profile has more diameter and weight, and the hinged and spring clip will prove more durable. Neither one is a high-end pen, but each should prove to be dependable and even pleasurable to write with.
However, Le Bere, if you think a metal barrel pen would be too heavy for you, you'll likely be happier with the Vector. My plastic Profile weighs more than my stainless steel Vector.
