Michael R.
I've added a review of the Lamy Studio fountain pens to my website
"PENS'n'INKS".

PENS'n'INKS

I hope to add more pen and ink reviews soon.

very nice review. i think this pen looks even better than the classic 2000. is it much smaller than the 2000? great pics by the way.

Michael, nice review--thanks for pointing us to it. Nice job on your web site, too.

I already had your web site bookmarked for the ink color swatches and discovered today that you have reviews on the inks there, too! I really like the Rohrer-Klingner Vedure (at least as it looks on my monitor) and wish someone in the U.S. would carry these inks.

Best, Ann

Many thanks for your kind words! I hope to update the site regulary with new pen & ink reviews.

To davyr:

The Lamy Studio has the same lenght as the 2000 (the Studio even is 1 or 2 mm longer) but is thinner; the 2000 is much thicker in the middle and its gripping section is much more tapered.

The 2000 really doesn't compare that well to the Studio being a plastic pen; the Studio feels totally different.

To Ann Finley:

I've talked to Tom Westerich who sells the Rohrer & Klingner Inks in Germany; he told me that he found a distributor for them in the US but I forgot whom.... Best would be to contact Tom Westerich about R&K inks in the US.

Cheers

Michael, thanks for the excellent review and great photos. I own a Lamy Studio in Stainless Steel and love using it. I have an Italic nib on mine, but I didn't know that the spare nibs were so inexpensive!

I was not a very big fan of Lamy pens but I have to admit that they are growing on me!!! Especially the 2000 and the Studio (gold nib)

Thank you for the review Michael! I'll have a stainless steel version in a couple of days. Where did you find the extra nibs? And how hard are they to change out?

Yes, would love info on 1) where to get the nibs in the US and 2) how to change them out. I wrote Lamy US once in the past, as I'd heard the nibs were easily replaceable, but didn't get a clear answer on how to do it.

Great review.

Great review.

1) Try http://www.lamyusa.com or http://www.pendemonium.com.

2) Just push the nib off the plastic feed - replace with new nib.

An easy way to get the (slippery) nib off the feed is to stick Scotch tape onto it and then pull it off. The nib slides on and off the feed with some resistance, but it is a simple thing.

This is actually the (semi) official method!
