I have just ordered a Fermo today from Taizo (Engeika on ebay) and asked if there was a larger converter available for the Fermo, to which he replied no. However he did say that the CON - 70 was available for the Pilot 845 etc. Although his english is very good I'm not sure if he is saying that the CON - 70 will fit the Fermo but it doesn't come with it or you can only use the converter the Fermo comes with. Can anyone with a Fermo clarify this please?

No, CON-70 will be too big for any of Capless/VPs, including Fermo. Only CON-20 and CON-50 would fit, but they are sold separately in Japan. I think some Japanese sellers inculde converters with VPs as courtesy.

When I bought a Fermo from Taizo, it came with both the 20 and 50 converters. And, no, the 70 wouldn't work.

By the way, you won't find a better eBay seller. Taizo is a pleasure to deal with, and the language problem can be overcome.

Thanks for the replies, is there a difference in size between the CON - 20 and CON - 50?

CON-20 is a squeeze type and CON-50 is a twist type. Many people have complained CON-50 does not hold enough ink. Probably CON-20 will hold more ink, but I heard CON-20 sometimes fits really loose unsure.gif I usually just refill a cartridge with syringe and don't bother using converters with VPs.

Pilot converters

My VP with a CON-20 (squeeze, one-sided) holds more ink than it did with a CON-50.

The feed and collector parts of the VP's unit make it hard to fill the CON-50 really full (fill it partway, point the nib up, push out the air, fill again). I always made a mess trying to do that. Amodex to the rescue!

The CON-20 is much neater. I just squeeze three times, letting the sac return to its original shape between squeezes.
