Full Version: Which On-Line Retailers

As I live in an area where our local stores do not carry fountian pens, I am stuck with shopping on-line. I have found several on-line retailers, and would like to get recommendations on which are good to work with and reputable businesses.

I have also noted a huge variation in pricess between on-line retailers. While I would expect some variations, one on-line retailer prices seem almost too good to be true.

Any help from personal experience would be appreciated.

Maybe it would be better if you can let us know what types/brands of fountain pens you are looking at?

Added to those listed above:

Todd Nussbaum at isellpens.com
Art Brown

KingJoe
Add Pendemonium to that list. Great people, great service, some exclusive Noodler's offerings, and Sam posts on FPN from time to time.

Can't believe you all left out Dennis Bowden at Parkville Pen. My only source for Bexley pens. Dennis is above reproach and is great to work with.

His URL is www.parkvillepen.com

Hi,
Unfortunately it doesn't look like they would sell outside the US judging by their payment methods. Am I correct in my assumption.

Price wise nobody can beat Pam Braun of US and Pen Gallery of Malasia. You can also try melpens.com of Malasia. I believe apart from price all these are completely relaible . Richard Binder of US is an expert , he ckecks all pens and you can get some great customised nibs.

regards,

Devjeet.

Hi, I live in the Netherlands and have bought several pens at Pam and that was a very good experience. Quick and reliable, and great prices of course!

From personal experience I am happy to recommend:
ISellPens.com - Todd Nussbaum provides excellent service and feedback, great product at a good price.
SwisherPens - Excellent service and feedback, great product at a good price. Wide range of products.

Pam rocks! I just talked to her this morning, I got a Carene Royal Blue M for $106 out the door. It'll be here Monday. smile.gif

I like Temecula Pens too and had a very positive transaction with ColoradoPens.

Anyone know anything about Red Fingerprint.com? There's an Aurora there calling my name...

He's been around since forever. I bought a BCHR Waterman 52 from his in the late 1990s. More recently (around 2005?) I bought a Cedar Blue Parker "51" with a flexible nib. Good prices, good pens, but always user grade, at least the ones I've seen. Doesn't bother me since I buy pens to write with.

I have had plenty of orders with Pendemonium and find them to be first class - excellent service, well priced, great range and their advice is spot on. I have also had limited experience with James at Pear Tree and that experience was excellent too. Recommend them both highly.

pensinasia.com

Wonderful experiences buying from Tay.

thanks for the info! that pretty much confirms the good impression i got from the site.

i shall now have a long, serious talk with my bank account....

I can recommend Norman Hasse at HisNibs.com and Todd Nussbaum at ISellPens.com. Both gentlemen are terrific to work with. I have a nib out for Binderizing with Richard and Barbara, and they've been great too.

For new pens, no vintage here, I can highly recommend the following:

Daly's Pen Shop
Pen City
The Inkflow
FranklinChristoph
PenCity.com without question. Massive, efficient e-commerce company, and our founder's relatives own the site.

And though we have but a few exclusive products: Franklin-Christoph.com

Kiernan
Strang
Swisherpens.com

I have worked with them on a couple of small orders and also a couple of times on large, complicated orders, and I recommend them highly in all situations.
KUPen
What about www.montgomerypens.com? Their prices are very competitive and often tops; I have done LOTS of looking. Haven't purchased from them but am planning on doing so soon. Has anyone used them?

Pam Braun!!!!

Oscar Braun Pens

I found out about her through this board and now she is the only US store I will buy fountain pens from (as longs as she stocks them) as her service is excellent, communications polite and her prices unbeatable.

No affiliation, no connection, nothing - just a very very happy customer.

I'll echo this. Pam Braun is a great seller and my preferred seller, too.
GreenVelvet
I like Jetpens, too - I think they offer free shipping over $25 or something, which is really great. Now if they only carried Platinum Preppy converters...

Also I just had a great buying experience from Temecula Pens on eBay last week.
