I have a parker 51 that had a broken nib. Took it apart, no problem. I got a replacement nib and so far no problems. Now as I look at the reassembly of the feed unit-collector-nib unit, I am not sure how all should line up. On the 61 there are tabs to make sure you do it correctly but not so on the 51. Also when I go to reassemble the unit everything twists especially the nib on the feed. I'm sure there is an easy solution to this, help please. Does anyone have a picture of the correct orientation of the feed-collector and nib unit in-situ that they can share with me?
Thanks again.

I fear that there is no easy solution of your problem. You can only adjust it by twisting it to get the correct orientation.

I know about orientation of the assembled unit and orienting the nib to the hood, it is the orientation of the various parts before screwing on the hood that I am interested in. I know that the feed channel/nib etc... have to correctly oriented for ink to flow. Also how to keep the nib from twisting on the feed during hood replacement.
Thanks,
Rob

Well, you've got 95% of the technique down pat then. The lack of registration marks makes it necessary to anticipate at least a couple of reassemblies to get it right. First try - note how misaligned the nib is - perhaps use a wax marker or washable one to leave an indication on the barrel where the tip of the hood does finally rest when fully screwed in (a friend of mine uses a small adhesive tag he marks, another just holds his thumbnail in the place).

Anyway, with this mark established, unscrew the hood, and rotate the nib/collector assembly to the proper orientation, reinstall the hood, and you should be close, if not spot on. If not, repeat until done.

Thanks for your responses. I get how to reassemble the entire pen, now how do you get the nib on the feed and the the feed on the collector? What part of the channel on the collector lines up with the feed? Does this make any sense? I have reassembled the pen 3 times and don't get any ink flowing out of the nib.

Not sure where you'r difficulty is coming from Rob. The nib on the feed is pretty standard, the curved side against the curve of the nib, then the nib/feed assembly goes in the collector - with the broad channel of the collector oriented with the top of the nib, the fine channel oriented at the bottom on the nib.

Then the collector/nib/feed assembly is inserted int he barrel of the pen, and the hood screwed on as per my first response.

I hope the feed has the breather tube attached. If not, that may be your problem...
