I have restored a few snorkel pens and I really like working on them (so far just about everything from an admiral to a sentinel and many in between) but I have no more of my own to restore. If anyone has any snorkels that they would like to get cleaned up and working I would like to do it for you without any charge for labor. You pay shipping both ways plus 5 dollars for new parts. I will install a new sac, a new point holder gasket, a new o-ring, applying pure silicone grease and talc the sac as well lightly polishing cap/barrel if needed. There is no profit in this for me other than the experience. If you have a badly damaged pen or one that is missing parts then I'm afraid I can't help you.....refurbishment only. cool.gif PM me if you are interested.

Great!

I think I have a few candidates for you smile.gif

I will send you a PM.

Btw, I would gladly pay you something for the time you spend, as well!

That's great timing! I just got my first snorkel, but was sorry to find that the tube doesn't extend past the nib tip, also that it only fills once in six tries or so, and it's a bit hard to tell when you've succeeded without squirting it back out. glare.gif As for the gouged section, if you happened to have one in good condition and are able to replace that, I would love to have that done as well, as this pen was intended for a gift.

Several people have responded to my offer and I think I have plenty enough snorkels coming to handle for awhile. I will see how these go and if everything goes well I may open this up again once I clear off my workbench. If you have requested to send pens to me and have received shipping instructions back but have not yet sent your pens, you are already on the list and I am expecting you so please feel free to go ahead and send them at your convenience. If you want your Snork refurbished but haven't PM'd me yet, go ahead and PM me and I will get you on the list for the next time I go crazy like this roflmho.gif When things free up some, I will PM you back with instructions (that is if you're not in to big of a hurry......maybe in a month or so, I will be ready for round 2)

I just got my snorkels back from Cntrlfrk, and I have to say he did an amazing, superb job on both of them. He turned them from disabled desk ornaments to smooth-filling excellent writers. Take a look below. Pete, thanks so much!

Hi All,

Another enthusiastic thumbs-up! Beautiful work - thank you, Pete!

Cheers,

Pete, what do you get out of this? (Don't take that as cynical or sarcastic...I'm really just curious about it.)

Further training on getting the hang of it? Personal satisfaction for taking something that was essentially garbage and turning it into something useful? The joy of helping others? Building some rough numbers as to the time it takes to do one so that you can accurately judge what it would take to make a hobby business at it?

I'm curious, because there's a part of me that's thought about doing something similar with refinishing 51 caps.

(And no, don't start sending me your 51 caps!) tongue.gif
