Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to see if you guys heard that the Sonnet Pen Series will be discontinued on March 1st 2008.

It will be replaced by the new SONNET REFLEX series.

I was talked to my supplier at Sanford, they are running out of the current Sonnets and selling only what is left in stock.

Let me know if you guys heard otherwise
FrankB
I assure you this post is the first I have heard of Sonnets being discontinued. I have no concept of what a "Sonet Reflex" would be.

Yes, the pen is the same, only the design will change a little bit, the name: SONNET doesn't change, J.M.L.

I've already seen these on sale on ebay. I didn't pay much attention but I'll have to take a look at the pictures to see the changes.

I heard about these, but I do not think they are in the market yet, I want one ...

If anyone seen these yet, would like to see some pics

Hi Again,

I was told the new Sonnet is a bit thinner that the current production line.

Also, the colors are similar but a bit stronger.

I have not seen one yet, only pics, but wondering what the marking will on the band.

Yep, Sanford confirmed that they will be out in March, also they mentioned that some have slipped by to the market but the official launch date is March 2008.

I have requested some material on the pen, if I get anything interesting will post some pics.

post photos, please.

A thinner Sonnet? I don't think that's the way Parker should go......just my opinion.

Why not? The 75 was thinner as well, and is still an absolute classic.

I wonder if this change has anything to do with the fake Sonnets that are out there. Then again, I'd think going wider would be the better way to combat that. There are already some fake 75s out there if I understand things right. I imagine that whoever makes the fake Sonnets and 75s could meld those two fake products easily into whatever the new one looks like.

Well I found out something very interesting. The new Sonnet is just the beginning for this year of many pens that will be discontinued from Parker and re release as a combo pens (i.e. Sonnet / Reflex) or just a redesign.

I asked why all this, they said it is time for an overhaul of their product line since many competitors are introducing many new items.

Very interesting, also support of all previous pen styles will continue as before.

What you guys think, in my opinion it is a good thing, gives us the ability to add some new pens to our collections.

I heard about this and this might be OK, but also if the converters and cartridges can not be interchanged would not be too cool.

We need pictures.

I really doubt you'll ever see Parker move away from their ballpoint refill. It's a classic and has a dominant part of the market share.

I have no idea how likely it is Parker would move to a different rollerball format.

I'd say the Parker fountain pen format is likely to be continued. The only change I'd think they would consider is to move to the Waterman/international format. My guess is that the minds at Sanford would standardize Waterman over to the Parker style rather than move Parker, though.

Is this the new Sonnet Reflex?

Is this the new Sonnet Reflex?

The RB looks quite the same like the current Sonnet, but BPs are thinner. Hard to say.
dare_nova
IMO the RB is the current Sonnet.
TYoung
looks the same - maybe the cap band is slightly thinner?
Lonestar1963
Does anyone have any additional information on this?
TYoung
I like to see photos of this "new" Sonnet. I wish they'd make it a hooded nib!!
