Hey Yall!!!

I recently found out that the Bexley Nib Units will fit Stipula pens and also the other way around. This can save some people some money due to the higher coast of Stipula nibs VS the lower cost of the Bexley Nibs. Both are made by Bock Nibworks of Germany.

Well... I made another discovery, Bexley nib units fit Ancora pens and yes, Ancora Nib Units will fit Bexley and Stipula pens. Wow, this gives us pen enthusiasts a greater variety of nibs we can use on our fountain pens!!

I have a spare Filcao Atlantia Oro with an 18 kt gold Schmidt nib. Well my daughter decided that drawing on the grout between the tiles on our dining room floor is a great way of making Daddys pens write better sad.gif Well they do not make the 18kt gold Schmidt nibs for the filcao pens anymore. This leaves me with a pen I cannot use

So I contacted Richard Binder, and he is a fantastic guy with a treasure chest filled with knowledge. He told me that I have a couple of options:

1. Buy the very last Schmidt 18kt nib unit from him
2. Retip the nib
3. Use an older Taccia nib unit!!

Well there you go!! So lets recap:

1. Bexley, Stipula and Ancora nib units are completely interchangeable (the typical models of course)

2. Older Taccia Nib units are interchangeable with Filcao nibs to include Atlantica and Columbia.

I hope that helps, it would be great if others can post thier experiences with other nib units that are interchangeable!!!

Good info, Savage, thanks. smile.gif

Ever so slowly, I'm finding various criteria that are deal makers for me. Piston fillers, easy nib replacement by the 'unscrew' method and nib interchangeability are high on this list. Pens not so configured aren't off the list, but they better have some other redeeming features or they're likely not to catch my cash. wink.gif

That really suprises me as I understood from an article in Penworld that all of Ancora pens were totally made in house. But I guess they could make it to a standard size anyway. unsure.gif

I am pretty sure that you are correct when you say that Bock does NOT make Ancora nibs. Coincidentally, the sheath that houses the nib and feed along with the threads fit perfectly in Stipula and Bexley pens and vise versa. I just found this to be pretty interesting and that is why I posted this. Replacement nibs can be somewhat expensive as in the case for Stipula and Ancora. I happen to love Bexley nibs and they would make a perfect replacement for damaged Stipula or Ancora nibs.

I am thinking of replacing the medium nib on my Duetto with a Bexley Stub nib. I just recieved my Stipula Saturno with a 1.3 stub and I absolutely love it!!! The Bexley Stub is equivelant to a 1.3 Stipula nib. This will be a perfect match!!!

Anyways, I rambled on enough!!!

Esterbrook Renew-Point nib-section units and Osmiroid screw-in nib-section units are also interchangeable, I believe....

Great!! I am making a list of nibs that are interchangeable with other pens on a PDF file as a reference guide.

Do any modern interchangeable nibs fit in an Esterbrook?
Maja
This is within a pen company but...The Sheaffer "No Nonsense" nib-section units (*not* the new ones with the rubberized section) fit into the modern Sheaffer Balance II pens, and vice versa...

... as does the Sheaffer Connaisseur ...

Oh yeah, I forgot about that...and I have a Sheaffer Levenger Seas pen that is the same thing as the Connaisseur

Speaking of Bexley nibs, I have a Bexley 'Funtime' pen whose nib unit does not screw in/out...

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I am curious as to whether or not Bexley/Ancora/Stipula nibs are interchangeable (Bock) with Pelikan 800 or 1000 nibs (also Bock)?

No, they are not at all. Pelikan still uses it's own thread style, no matter who is the manufacturer. You can use new nibs in old pens and vice versa. Stipula and the others have a totally different design (maybe Bock's own design offered to the manufacturers?).
The Noble Savage
Yeah, I believe that Pelikan nib units are its own breed!!

Talking with Howard Levy of Bexley Last Saturday in LA, we had an interesting conversation regarding Schmidt nibs, Bock nibs and Mutschler nibs.

From what Howard said, Mutschler does not exist anymore and Bock pretty much took over operations. He also told me that Schmidt does NOT make nibs anymore. He said Bock makes the nibs but Schmidt puts the nib/feed and coller together on the nibs. I was very suprised, why would a nib that says schmidt not be made by schmidt? Then again, nibs that say pelikan, stipula and bexley are not made by those companies, they are made by Bock. A bit confusing at first but it looks like Bock owns a majority of the nib making market. I think the only other nib company/companies that out produces Bock has to be IPG (Iridium Point Germany) Who knows where they are made at, India, China or where ever!!

Hi,

Retro 51 nibs are exchangeable with Filcao nibs. smile.gif

Hi Noble Savage,

I believe at least some of the IPG nibs are also made by Bock. Danitrio steel nibs are made by Bock and are IPG nibs. Kit pen nibs are also made by Bock (and most of them are steel IPG). Btw, these kit pen nibs are interchangeable with the Danitrio steel nibs.
