I have a very nice vacuum filler. Following some of the guidance on this site I opened it and removed the piston and the piston sealing from the body. I used a syringe to put some ink in the body after I reassembled it. The ink just ran right through the feed and onto the desk. None stayed in the pen.
I then took the feed and nib out of the holder to see if it was broken or some other issue. Didn't see anything wrong. I put it back together and instead of ink just used water to try and fill it. The water ran right on through the feed. I could see the comb slots fill right up with water and then it just poured out.
Are you supposed to seal the feed in the section some way? Any ideas or suggestions welcomed.
To be clear about the problem, it is not leaking where you screw the section onto the body, it is leaking where the nib and the feed go into the section, around the feed.

Hi,
That is because air is leaking into the pen due to the removed plunger and seals. Get the plunger and seals restored, or else, the pen is not going to work.

Dillon,
You sure? I have read several posts from people that have made this particular pen into a eyedropper fill and it seems to work for them. I haven't done anything different than what has been described.

Hi,
You just need to make the barrel air tight then.
Have Fun!

Hi Mac - I concur withsome of the other comments you"ve recieved on this. If you want to turn the piston filler into an eydropper, you cant count on the end-cap which held the piston rod being air tight. The leaking you are experiencing is due to air entering the rear of the pen - turning the pen into a pipe - open at both ends.
If you really dont want a piston filler, and want turn the pen into an eye-dropper, fill the end cap with silicone sealant and screw it in place. After a day or so, the seal will be perfect. The great thing about silicone, is if you have a change of mind, and want to restore the pen to original, you can .
Hope this helps.

Thank you Dillon and Dave,
Dave, from what you say then I unscrew the section end to fill the pen. I had the notion that I needed to fill from the piston cap end. Soon as the ribs are done, I'll go back at it.

Yeah - you need to fill from the section end. If you fill from the piston end, there is nothing to keep the ink flow regulated, and you get ink pouring out of the feed.
