This is a spectacular oversized set. Radius clip style and 3 line imprint date this to approx 1937-39. The pen measures 5.5” and the pencil is the rare oversized version 5.7”. As you can see from the photos, the colour on the set is wonderful with just a touch of shading on the pen barrel.
Both pieces are in excellent condition. The pen is a lever filler with a totally correct, very smooth fine two tone Lifetime nib. The pencil is in near mint condition and works perfectly, taking the thick 1.1 mm lead. The original eraser is still present. The gold filled trim on both pieces is excellent with very minor spots of wear at the clip tip only. No cracks or scratches, deep clear imprint, this is a fantastic set in one of the more desirable colours from the Balance range.
It is very difficult to find a matching set in this condition especially with the oversized pencil. There are 3 very discreetly engraved initials “PJM” at the back of the cap bands. As you can see from the photo, these are very small and professionally engraved. I would normally price this set at $600 but because of the initials you can save yourself some money.
