Hey everyone,
While my Pelikan is temporarily out of order I figure now is a good time to pick up a reliable back up.
I'm not really too picky about what sort of 51 as long as it's an XF, a good writer, and in good working order. Cosmetically I'd rather it wasn't totally beat, but it doesn't have to be pristine either. I'm not really after a "looking pen", more of a writing pen, I guess.
Thanks in advance!

You might try the PENguin (no affiliation). He has a bunch of user-grade 51s listed on his website (thepenguinpen.com). I believe he has a very good reputation on FPN as well.

Do take a gander, but no goosing.

I second the notion of the PENguin. Rick seems like a friendly fellow via email, and will hunt and peck for what you're looking for. He has a bunch of mixed up P51s of various ilk at this page:

David at Vacumania has already provided a link to his excellent and beautiful pens, too ... though I suspect his nice stuff is nicer than the beaten up stuff that the OP says he's interesting in getting.

Again, the battle between user and beauty. I too find myself on the "wrong" side of that divide, in so far as pen supply seems to be indicated.

Glad to hear that the PENguin comes with a good rep - he was very helpful and honest with me, and I also was looking for a clean (but not necessarily collectible) P51 to use. The pen hasn't arrived yet, but the buying experience and communication was certainly great.

Rick is a good guy and stocks some grand pens. Even if he is a bit of a left wingnut, he debates his politics in good cheer smile.gif

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies and leads.
I think I've got something in the works so I'm pretty thrilled.

And David, you've got some really nice stuff. Your site has been bookmarked for future "reference"...
