I have been stalking you guys for a couple days, hoping I can decide on my 1st FP purchase! Yes, that's right I don't own a single FP. I can't wait though.

I do a lot of card sending 10-20 a week and I wan't to start collecting beyond ballpoints and rollerballs. As it is I am a total pen junkie but now I NEED better and more.

I want to get a couple CHEAP ($35 total) to start, so I can figure out if I like light or heavy - fine or medium blah blah. I know what I like in the others (BPs and RBs) but I am sure it is apples and oranges.

I'm sure my next statement will make a lot of you cringe but it has to be pretty. I have 5 boys so I need pretty to balance testosterone.

I love the looks of pens like Taccia Ta-Ke (pink), Waterford Arista (Prism Purple) Retro 51 Scripmaster (pink), Krone Kronelolgy. You get the idea, but I don't want to spend that much for my 1st purchase. I just want to get the feel. Cheap for a couple weeks then a nice pen.

Any recomendations?

Thanks
Natalie

Natalie,

No cringing here. If it's pretty maybe those boys will keep their mitts off it.

I was looking for a pink Lamy Safari for my daughter once, but I don't think they exist.

Welcome to FPN. Once you start writing with a fountain pen, you will be hooked.

Welcome,

The Retro 51 Scriptmaster is quite a nice pen, I have one in Tortoise that I picked up a few weeks back from a fellow member, looks good and writes well. Pink may be a little over the top for me, but a good choice for a pen.

Waterman do some 'demonstrators' in various colours (the Phileas and Kulture are two that spring to mind), not sure if pink is one of them, but you could try taking a look.

Hi Natalie and welcome. I don't think anyone will cringe because you want a pretty pen. We probably all do! smile.gif
