Hi,

I use 3 x 5 cards a lot - I used to love Levernger's but my last batch have proved not to be as FP friendly as before. Do folks have others they can recommend that are good with fountain pens? I'd like white blank cards.

Thanks

Tom

I use the cheap Office Depot brand cards with a grid on one side and blank on the back side. The grid side is fine with FPs, but I always get a little feathering on the blank back side - no bleed-through though.

The unlined Alco brand at KMart is pretty good. Both sides work well. They are better than Mead and Oxford brands.

Try the Exacompta ones that Pendemonium sells. I've used the larger size with good success.

There have been several threads on this topic if you do a search you should come up with some reco's.

The search function is tricky so try index+card in titles.

Some that are good: mead, crane, levenger, exacompta, staples

Who, other than Levenger, has them portrait rather than landscape? I prefer ruled.

I used to get some from a Japanese stationer, but they're either no longer made or no longer imported.

We make a line of stock and custom 3X5 cards and use the Hammerill Color Copy 100lb Cover. I have compared this card stock to the Levenger card stock and it is heavier than Levengers. All of my fountain pens write well on this card stock. The ink does not get absorbed immediately like it would on a fine rag paper and the card stock does not feather or bleed thru.

If you are wanting blanks you can just buy a ream of 250 sheets of this paper for about $35 and have someone at Kinkos cut it up for you. 250 sheets will yield 3000 or 3500- 3X5 cards, depending on how you cut it up.

If you got to this site, they sell 3 x 5 cards called Notes to Go. They are fountain pen friendsly, and I use them on a daily basis. They are not strict lined or unlined 3 x 5 cards, but have spaces designated on one side for things to do on the top half, reminder on the bottom half, and horizontal lines under a heading of thoughts/ideas on the other side.

My local K-Mart stopped carrying Alco, and now they have their own store-branded ones. I haven't tried the new ones but I wonder if they are as good unsure.gif

Exacompta Record Cards - no problems yet.

I find portrait lined 3x5s in Dollar Stores all the time. Horizon "a division of SHPC Inc." printed in Bampton, Ontario, are 1$ for 100.

I bought some ruled Alco cards at K-Mart and they weren't very good at all with most of my inks.
They do pretty well with Noodler's Black, but it writes OK on newsprint.

Are the ruled and blank cards from different plants, suplliers??

I've had the same issue with Levenger cards. After some detailed looking - and not finding what I wanted - I picked up some heavy white card stock from Staples and cut them to the size I want. Perfect!

Levenger changed their paper. Here are some scans. The old stuff is really old, more than four years probably.

I have been using unruled Alco, and it's VERY FP friendly. I have not yet found ink that feathers on the card. It says Made in Indonesia, Distributed by Atico International USA, Inc., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33301.

I use office depot index cards. On the package is states they are 10% post-consumer content. They seem OK with all my fountain pen inks.
