Hi Andy,

It will be good to see you there in October. You can have a sneak preview of the site here www.lwes.cathedralpens.co.uk this is a temporary holding site until the rest of the organising team have had a chance to discuss content etc. Like last year the content will be added to and change as we have more information to hand, for instance some of the things that we are trying out at the Midland Show in June, such as the workshops may be incorporated into the London show if they are successful at the Midland.

The London Writing Equipment Show website is now live! You can find it here www.lwes.org.uk . As last year the website will be updated regularly right up to the show, I'll also be sending out email newsletters during the same period PM me if you want to receive them.

Table sales are going very well indeed and we may not be able to accommodate everyone who wants atable. The main sponsors this year are Stone Marketing UK distributors for great brands such as Sheaffer, Pelikan, Caran dache, Faber Castell, Graf Von Faber, Tombow, Porsche Design, Schneider and Paperblanks.

Its going to be a great show!

Hi Erik,

Ian, I saw you can already order entry tickets from the site. What is this for? I thought this is going to be quite an "open" event with no limits on how many people you can let in as long as each of them pays the entry fee. So should I consider ordering tickets for me and my GF earlier? I don't want to travel almost 1,000 miles to the show just to hear "Sorry, all tickets sold and there is already a huge crowd inside, we can't let you two in"... Is such scenario possible or is this just my sick imagination? wink.gif

Also, is there any report from last year's WES anywhere to read? I'd like to know what I can expect there, since it's my first show. I'm soooooo excited that I've decided to do something crazy and booked plane tickets for the 11-12 weekend smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

Hi Finansista
You and your GF will have no problem getting into the show. The online booking was something new that we are trying this year, the idea being that if you already have your entry tickets you could get 'fast track' entry into the show and avoid the crowds.

Jean-Elie has a good report of the 2007 show with lots of photographs on his site at www.penandco.com. You can expect a very busy and crowded show with plenty to satisfy everyone.

I'll be in London on Saturday with a few others so if you (and any other FPNers) fancy getting together for a drink let me know and I'll fix something up.

Regards

Ian

Yes, thats right the show is a complete sellout. There may be some table cancellations but doubtful. Promises to be a knockout show again this year, I hope I'm going to see you all there. I'm staying at the Copthorne Tara hotel on Saturday night if anyone wants to meet up for a drink.

Everyone else...

looking forward to seeing you there!! Who will be meeting up for drinks on the Saturday? I'm tempted to come and join for a wee, cheeky drink smile.gif

With regards to the actual show, what should I expect? Will there be restorers and nibmeisters present that I can drop pens off to to get work done? I've never been to a show before so I'm slightly apprehensive as well as excited about it all!

Pop along to our table (right-hand side of the main hall near the stage) and we'll point you in the right direction.

ONLY 10 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

... and things are really hotting up, you can find the issue 2 of the show newsletter here www.londonshownews.cathedralpens.co.uk . Onoto and Retro 51 have very kindly donated pens as prizes for some lucky people to win, every single table has sold with plenty of overseas dealers being present as well as the UK dealers. We have five world class calligraphers demonstrating their skills.

A SPECIAL NOTE FOR CARRIE: Just to twist your arm a bit and get you to the show (because you're needed there to keep casmi in order!) rumour has it that a world famous collection of Conway Stewarts will be going up for sale at the show.

A SPECIAL NOTE FOR CASMI: Just for you I have a piece of show memrobilia which I guarantee is a world wide one off and its all yours bud.

To give you an idea of how packed the show is I had booked three tables this year and I've now given one up to accommodate someone else (could be that world famous Conway collection!). Ann and I now have tables V34 & V35, we'll have the Diamine range available for you to try before you buy, hopefully ;-) , along with a wide collection of vintage and contemporary pens, pen cases and bits and pieces - and don't forget let me know that you are from FPN to get best prices.

On Saturday night I'm staying at the Copthorne Tara (fantastic deals there at the moment) so who's up for a drink Saturday night? Lets be hearing from you and lets see if we can get a a bit of a party going!

So, who's coming to the show? Lets be hearing from you!

Gee, Ian...you make it sound like I get....out of control....at these shows! Nonsense! Just because there are all those lovely pens....and lovely people....and ink.....Diamine ink.......all those colours......Royal Blue (hmmmm...only have two bottles.....one at the office and one at home....do I need one for the car?).....Kelly Green.....oh, yesssss....the Kelly Green! But the Umber.....I ALWAYS have a pen inked with Umber......No I'm fine....really.....

I could do labels with the FPN logo and our usernames. I could leave the sheet with Ian (if he's agreeable) and then folk could stop by his table and pick up their label when they get there.

I tried very hard to be able to get across for the show.
Unfortunately, family commitments are preventing my attending.
HOWEVER!!!
My friend John Sorowka/Oxonian here on FPN has been kind enough to
agree to display and offer for sale the Indian Eydropper Pens.
He will have a full compliment of the pens including the Gigantic Gajendra at over 6.5" long and the Devika at 1.5" long.
Please look for John and the display right inside the front door.

All of the pens will have been tested and had the nibs smoothed if necessary.
If you've wanted to see and write with one of the Ebonite or Acrylic Eyedroppers please stop by the table.

John also does magnificent nib work should you have some conked nibs that need help!

Here are a few photos of the available pens.

The recognition problem has been bugging me too so this year we've come up with the above show visitor pass. The idea is that you simply tick the appropriate box of the organisation that you are most closely affilliated to - I have no doubt that some of us will be ticking more than one box and there will be some of us complaining that their organisation isn't represented but I'm afraid that there is only so much that you can get on a small label.

If this works I will introduce it to the South West show in February and the Midland in June.

There used to be an FPN area on Cafe Press which had a good range of FPN products such as button badges, T shirts and mugs but last timeI looked it seemed to have disappeared. I'll be wearing my FPN T shirt on Saturday night and I've got a really cool one for the show!
