Hello all,

I received my (new) Montblanc 342 in the mail today, my first MB! bunny01.gif The pen is in absolute mint condition, you wouldn't know it's made in the 50's if I didn't tell you. My pen has a lovely fine nib with a fair amount of flex. It gives some line variation, but not much as it's a fine nib. I've just done some scribbles with it to exercise the nib, it's getting better by the minute drool.gif I think I'll have to get another one with a medium nib as well clap1.gif Is the 344 a bigger pen?

Kind Regards,
Karl

Hi Karl,

congratulations on your new pen. I had 2 342s but sold them in the end. They were too small for my liking but they are great pens. I don't have a 344 but it is a bigger pen than the 342
Enjoy your new pen

Hi Nikolaos,

Yeah, I agree - it's a small pen. But I don't think it's to small. I plan on using it tomorrow at a conference, we'll see what I have to say after it.

Dear Karl,

I have recently acquire a 342 with KF nib. I think same like yours it's in definite mint condition. Stated as from the 50s. It's a steel nib and hence feels a bit scratchy on strokes but nonetheless ink flow has been excellent and smooth.
Will add splendor to my collection happyberet.gif

The series runs 342, 344, 346 from smallest to largest.
The sizes don't match up with the 14x or the 25x series.

In my pen case and/or pocket today....Montblanc 342, 31, 22 and a Monte Rosa 042 Nibs vary from EF to M, inks are blue Quink, black Quink and 2 with Aurora Blue. I usually only carry three pens but the 31 arrived yesterday already inked so I had to give that needle like EF nib a go.

Nothing like a vintage Montblanc

Thank you GoodGuy!

I do plan to make a review as I've noticed that it's missing in the database. However, there's so much going on at my place at the moment so I'll have to postpone this to a more suitable date. But rest assured - it will come!

Kind regards,
Karl
