I recently received an Esterbrook with a beautiful, smooth, flat-feed 2668 nib. There is one minor problem - I can't seem to unscrew the nib from the section. I've applied as much torque as I dare. I have also tried soaking the nib in water - no ink fingers appeared in the water and the nib still isn't budging.
How to I loosen the nib and get it out of the section?
Thank you!!!

Put your index finger on the nib, right next to where it meets the section, and your thumb on the feed. Turn the nib/feed unit counterclockwise -- no great force shound be needed.
Does the sac work? If so, cycle some water through the pen -- getting the feed wet might help.

If it's really stuck, use heat. I'll use either a heat gun, or even warm water to loosen the dried ink in the section. Esterbrook sections are pretty hearty, so a soak in warm water isn't going to harm much. Since you say it's a flat feed, the section is hard rubber, so avoid water if it's already somewhat discolored. Dry heat always works.

Hi,
Soak it well, then wrap the nib in one of those rubber bands used to tie up lobsters and give it a twist. It works well on mine and it does not push the nib and feed off alignment.

Thank you, Brian! A couple of minutes under a hot tap did the trick.
Thanks,

That's a great idea. I also use a short piece of bicycle inner tube for similar gripping purposes.
I've got plenty of old inner tubes with holes if anyone needs them.
