Altura was a low-to-mid-level British brand. No connection to Waterman.

Were I to see an eBay listing for a Waterman Altura, my first thought would be that the pen would be a mix of parts from the two brands.

Keith- The Altura Pen Company was formed in the early 1920's, and traded successfully until 1947 when it was bought
by Waterman. The factory was located in Clerkenwell, London; and the company had a shop in nearby High Holborn.
My wife's late grandfather Richard Jeffreys, who had previously worked for Onoto, was a director of Altura.
I am therefore interested in acquiring any pens or mechanical pencils made by Altura that are still in good condition.
Perhaps you would be good enough to contact me by eMail so that we may discuss your recent acquisition, as even if
you do not wish to sell, I would very much like to learn the model number and other markings.

KEITH:
Many thanks for this information.
Model 752 seems to have been by far Altura's best selling pen. It was situated at the lower end of their mid-range pens,
and sold for 12/6d ( 62.5p) in the early 1940's. This doesn't sound very much now but bear in mind that at that time £5
a week was an extremely good wage for a working man.
The nib your pen has is the usual one, and is probably original. The cap should have a flat top, and all that I have seen
have RG ( rolled-gold ) on the clip.
I wonder why the seller said Waterman, as this pen is not marked with that name.
Regards,
Peter

Will have to dig into my box of miscellaneous English pens to see if I have any Alturas for you!
I know I had at least one in the box, somewhere. . . .

if you are interested in aquiring this pen let me know .i collect pens but only keep them if they are great writers .i ammnot interested in simply having a pen for its looks or history.
i have a wyvern with the same nib and it is a fabulous writer so i will have to smooth up the altura to see what it can do .
