I recently picked up a True Writer Notewriter during a Levenger sale. Plus, I got a 20% "preferred e-list" discount thumbup.gif

The case is smaller than I thought, which was a pleasant surprise to me. When closed it is slightly larger than a Moleskine Pocket Notebook.
The "Saddle" color looked like a dark brown on their website, but it is reddish brown. It reminds me of a leather football. The leather is their standard material, soft and nicely stitched.

It looks like it's about the right size for Pelikan M400 size pens.

From left, Pelikan M400, two Sailor Sapporo Minis, Pelikan M320.

My decimo looks almost like a tight fit lengthwise.

The pen loop has elastic on either sides, allowing it to hold small pens like Pelikan M300 series to larger pens. I could shove Sapporo Mini's cap down in it but I am afraid I will stretch out the elastic.

I think they are using the same format/outside cover as their PDA case and Circa Zip Folio, probably a smart move for them.

I debated whether to get Pen Parapet or this, but I like the convenience of having 3x5 cards handy.

Over all I am very satisfied with the case, especially at the price I paid smile.gif

I got a similar case, not Levenger, from ebay seller wkiffin (not affiliated) which I use constantly. It has the added bonus of outer slit pockets, to hold receipts etc. It actually cost a little less than the Levenger pricing on the link you provided, but I haven't checked pricing lately.

Thanks for the review! I've been thinking about getting this, but with only one middle loop for each pen, I wasn't sure about whether the pens would shift and touch each other at the tops and bottoms. Do the loops keep the pens pretty still?

Donnie,

I just checked eBay and wkiffin has some nice cases at very reasonable prices, as you mentioned. His smallest folio-type case is for 12 pens right now, but I will check his items when I need another one. Thank you very much for the tip!

Loops are pretty snug and my pens don't move even if I tilt the case. However, I'm not sure if that would be the case with longer and heavier pens.

Donnie, I like the cases from that seller, but didn't find the 4-pen case. the 12-pen case looks like it holds big pens fine, but do you think the M300 would be too small?

I have kept a Hero 329 in mine, and it doesn't roll around too much. The clip keeps it in place pretty well. I also Used to keep an M100 in it, same results. I think the M100 is probably about the same size as the M300, but I am not sure.

He also has a non-eBay web site here. The prices tend to be a little higher than the eBay offerings, unless a few people bid up the eBay offerings. Heinz has been very good to deal with, though.

Thanks for the excellent review, Taki. I'd asked about experiences with the Notewriter a while back, but there weren't any responses. My main question was about the "adjustable pen loops." Your photo captures the design perfectly, so I understand exactly how they accomplish it. I'll definitely have to look into picking up one of these beauties.

Thanks for the review, Taki! I like how you described the leather color, like a football. The case looks perfect for you.

Don, I actually started writing this as a reply to your earlier thread, but decided to start a new thread because I thought there are too many photos. That's why I took the picture of the pen loop wink.gif

Pep, thanks for your kind words smile.gif
