Hi folks.
does anyone have an extra one of these laying around they'd like to unload on a poor soul who's trying to fix his first snorkel? I messed this one up :-)
Also, are there any tricks for getting that rubber piece back in?
I didn't know if I should post this in the marketplace or...
thanks in advance...

It doesn't look messed up to me. What's wrong with it?
I had to uncrimp mine. When I powdered the sac I put talc on the rubber plug too and it slid in okay. (That was my first Snorkel resac, just today coincidentally, so I'm not expert.)

Umm, well, the open end that you can't see in the photo is mutilated.
Believe me, it's worthless thanks to me.
Also, I should have added, I need the rubber piece as well.
I'm learning...

unless you smashed it well out of round somehow, that sac protector is fine. The "section", technically, is the little hard rubber thing inside that the snorkel tube and sac attach too.
You must restore the crimp on the sac protector so that it slides back into the nib holder -- I use the shaft of a precision screwdriver or something similar. The protector is chrome plated brass, so anything steel will work fine.
I've learned to be careful uncrimping them, as the brass will rapidly work harden and break.

Peter, thanks so much for your feedback. Yes, the sac protector is fine, it's the open end where the rubber piece fits into (the piece that holds the snorkel tube) that I really trashed. And the rubber piece itself was messed up in attempting to extract. I sort of made this the pen I was willing to sacrifice just to see how much it would take to mess something up--if that makes sense. The rest of the pen is in decent enough shape, though, that I thought I'd put the word out to see if anyone had these parts laying around that I could buy. Maybe I'll run across one eventually or use the rest of the pen for parts.
Thanks all,
Dave

Pretty soft metal eh? I just performed surgery on my first snorkel a few minutes ago and just about ended up in the same position. I wasn't prepared for how flimsy the stuff is.
