Greetings,
I would like to introduce myself to the forum. I have been reading on the sidelines for 2 years.I sold a pen today and the gentleman I had dealings with suggested I say hello. I am 60 years old and have been using FP's most of those years. I am in a profession that requires me to write frequently. Unfortunately for me the paper quality varies from bad to worse.
My present pen assortment includes Pelikan 1000, 805, 250, 120 ; Omas Arco Brown ; Aurora 88 and another piston filler ; Parker 51 and Vacumatic : Namiki Falcon and VP ; Sheaffer Balance II , Recife Crystal.
I enjoy fine to medium nibs and regularly send pens for nib exchange( mediums are frequently too wide).
My other hobbies include mountain biking, kayaking, photography, and amateur radio
Thanks for all the wonderful info on this forum,
Frank

Hi Frank,
Welcome to the FPN. You're the same age as my dad. He celebrates his 60th in August...I'm not sure he's looking forward to it.

Hamradio & KingJoe,
Welcome from a former Illinoisan, who grew up 40 miles from Paducah KY. Back in the Tube Age (differentiated from the Stone Age because we had vacuum tubes instead of stone tools) I remember when WPSD in Paducah first went on the air in 1957, and when they erected the world's tallest structure, a 1,674 foot (if memory serves) transmit antenna, in Monkey's Eyebrow Kentucky. My family drove out there to see it once, as it was quite amazing. The few people I knew who had a color TV were restricted to watching that station, because NBC for several years was the only broadcaster of TV in color. We also occasionally went to Kentucky Lake, and Lake Barkley for swimming and picnicking.
In my late teens, the boredom factor was so huge that one thing we used to do for fun was drive down to Cairo Illinois (prounounced Kay row), and cross over into Missouri on the bridge, then see how fast we could drive from Missouri into Kentucky, going through Illinois. It was a distance of approximately 3 miles, and the record was just under 2 minutes. Young and crazy.
