I think I would rather have either one of these, rather than a Sailor 1911, even as nice as that one would be. The Sailor has a converter, and that's not my first choice. I want gold furniture, so my choices are limited. If you have one of the above pens, let's talk.

I've got a Vision, but it's not a piston-filler; it takes cartridges. I also have a pen not on your list, but I figured I'd toss it out for your consideration: An Omas 360 Vision with gold hardware. Brand new, in the box, yada yada.

James, am I mistaken--that the Ogiva is not a piston/vac filler? The 360 is a very nice pen, indeed. My concern there was that it wasn't truly clear, and was a fair amount more expensive.

No, you're not mistaken. Well not completely. The Ogiva Vision came in 4 iterations - two piston-filled, and two cartridge-filled. The other two options were trim color - hi-tech or gold.

Another thing you may want to consider - Omas' Vision pens are all tinted to some degree - the Bronze 360, for instance, has a distinct gold tint in the clear plastic. The same is true with the gold-trimmed Ogiva. The HT version has a tint as well, although it's not as strong. I was told that Omas added a blue tint to those so it would complement the trim, but it looks golden to me!

The other thing you may wish to consider with the Ogiva, especially vs. the 360, is that the guilloche pattern cut into the Ogiva may obscure your view of the ink considerably more than the smooth and completely transparent 360. Just some food for thought. I'm sorry if I made your decision harder or confused you!

Oh, I almost forgot - regarding price - I think you'd be surprised at the closeout price I can give on the 360s. wink.gif

No James, I appreciate the education I'm getting on this. If my desire is to fill my demo with purple ink, I'm thinking the tint is going to obscure that, right? The 360 is vac/piston filled, isn't it? What kind of price could I get that one for? Feel free to PM if you like.
MarcShiman
I've got a Ogiva Vision, purchased from James (at a great price) filled with purple ink and it looks and works great. I got a piston from him. However, the tint is very very light.

I've got a couple of the 360 Visions left, and they are clearance priced at $275 - MSRP on these was $495!

Also - if you're looking for a really nice clear demonstrator with a piston-fill mechanism, have you considered the Pelikan M205? They're less than $80.00, and they are very good writers (I've been using one the past few weeks at work, 'cuz I don't want to take my Omas Arco to the office). Or is it the silver trim that is the deal-breaker for you? (Am I a lousy sales person or what, trying to talk you into a less-expensive item?)

James, I'm sure that's a really good price, but I have to decide if I want to go that much, plus have the nib re-ground. Do you have any close up pics of it, or can you provide a link to some? From my earlier posts, I think you get the idea of what I'm trying to accomplish w/ this demo purchase, whatever I end up buying. The Pelikan 205 would be an excellent choice, if I could settle for the silver trim. Am I way too picky, or what? rolleyes.gif
